I'm about 2 1/2 months to surgery and I am going absolutely crazy! I am so impatient and all I can think about is getting the surgery so I can feel better and start my journey. What did you do to pass the time so that it goes faster? lol

I understand the feeling. I was supposed to have surgery 8/14 and now not until 10/23. I feel sad as my original date creeps closer and will pass me by...but October will get here. Right?

Right?[/quote I was scheduled for 9/9 and then my insurance changed the requirements from 4 NUT visits to 6 now the earliest will be 10/22. I have to let it go because I was so disappointed but I started to slide backward and really had to get my head back in the game and start eating right again. I am working on getting in the Protein and Water now that I will need later.

Sadly it's like a bad April fools joke that I don't seem to be recovering from very well. I just keep seeing my original dates and appointments slip by. (The move back was my "choice". I use that term very loosely, I am approved for insurance and everything but haven't been at current job long enough to qualify for FMLA. While my brain understands it's the best decision my heart disagrees.)

I'm so sorry you have to wait. And I do understand your frustration, anxiety, and playing the waiting game . It will be worth it when your journey begin. I've been waiting for a while myself (I finished my 6 months. requirements on 3-28-14). Then when I call the Clinic I was told I had to have a sleep apnea test. Then after that I had to have another sleep study done. Now in between those appointments, I needed a letter from the doctor. Which doctor, the one that referred me to to program (pain management) or my primary doctor that could have done the same thing years ago ( lol). Primary doctor no response. Pain management doctor no response. Neither doctor got the template. Primary doctor never had to feel out template didn't know exactly the clinic wanted, then fax was not working. Finally, wait it takes about 30 days for insurance to make a decision. Call clinic "have you heard anything" call insurance, "has a decision been yet" "nope still in review". Now from July 7th to Aug 5th almost 30 days. Now the Claims Clerk tells me "Oh that's 30 business days" Alright I'm fried right about now. I still need to talk to the doctor and wait for a date. So yes I understand exactly. Sorry so long I finally got a chance to vent. All we can do is wait. I like to look up recipes for the future. And try to find a tasty Protein shake. Good luck to you.

When I was pre-op I was completely obsessed, too. Couldn't come fast enough. Here are some things I did:

Kicked up the exercise like crazy so I could get that habit going before surgery. I hired a personal trainer and in the 8 weeks leading up to surgery lost 4% body fat and gained 10 pounds of muscle (weight stayed the same because I was borderline and couldn't lose).

Cleaned all the big off season clothes out of my closet. My surgery was June 9th, so I bagged up every big, oversized heavy sweater I owned. I kept the bags until after surgery just in case for some reason it got cancelled or something but donated them as soon as my surgery was over.

I also made sure to keep myself busy with supportive friends. I reconnected with old friends I hadn't seen in a while and we started a walking group on Sunday afternoons.

The time will pass and you'll be on the loser's bench before you know it.

I am waiting on a surgery date, so I am impatiently waiting too. I should have things to insurance by the end of this month, so then it is out of my hands. In the meantime, I've been sending off for free samples of Protein Drinks and Vitamins, checking out things that might come in handy like a Blender Bottle or pill crusher, adding puree recipes to my pinterest board, making a "bucket list" of all the things I want to do once I lose weight and can do them again, reading on this forum and learning anything that might be helpful - yeah, I guess I am a bit obsessed!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
