One Week From Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Hi guys! My surgery is a week from tomorrow. August 8th. Sleeve with Dr Cunneen at Cedars. A few questions for some of you vets or recently sleeved, but would also take any suggestions or last minute advise you might have for me.

- What scale do you use at home?

- How often do you weigh yourself?

- What are your favorite Protein Drinks, which ones do you hate?

- How much help did you need in recovery?

- Any advise on marriage after sleeve?

- Do you use MyFitnessPal or any other apps?

- How often do you take your measurements?

- How "prepared" did you feel for surgery? I feel kind of like I'm just jumping off a cliff and trusting there's Water below.

I know these are a lot of random questions, but I guess it's a symptom of my pre-surgery nerves. Scattered thoughts.

I know this is directed at post-ops but I just wanted to throw it out there that I love my Aria scale and my Fitbit Flex. Basically, you weigh yourself and it automatically uploads to your fitbit profile via wifi where you can keep track of food and Water intake. My flex is a pedometer and sleep monitor so all my information is in one place (I know that probably sounds like I'm some secret sales rep but I promise I'm just a happy customer!) The only downside I've had is that my dog seems to like to eat my pedometer :-)

Ok...I'm 3 weeks out...let me try to answer as many questions as I can....here we go.... @@RyanSleeve2014

----I use Guru scale from Bath, Bed and Beyond. It rallies your weight, Water and body fat.

----I weigh in once a week.

-----I hate all Protein Shakes now! Lol....but during the process, I enjoyed Muscle Milk- vanilla Creme.

-----I just needed help getting out of bed, but then I realize it was easier for me to sleep in my recliner.

-----my marriage is great and my husband is very supportive.

----Yes, Fitness Pal is great and I yes it daily.

-----lol...I jumped off the cliff ahead of you, it's completely safe! Lol...I did a lot of research and attended a few meetings where others had been sleeved already and I felt 100% ready.

Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
