So tomorrow marks one week since my surgery. I had the gastric sleeve done on last Thursday, July 24. I also had to have my gallbladder removed. The recovery has been horrible. I was released from the hospital on Saturday and three hours later had to go right back because of the pain. I wasn't expecting this to Be but in no way did I feel it would be this difficult. A coworker of mine had her sleeve done on July 11 and was back to work 10 days later. My doctor says that the reason I can't drink anything normally (post gastric sleeve normal )is because my sleeve is tight and there is a lot of swelling. I know I'm not hungry but my brain is telling me I want food! In the fact that it feels like someone is stabbing me when I take a sip of even Water is making things all the more worse! I just hope this gets better I can't even think about how good I'm going to look, although I've already lost 23 pounds since I decided to get the surgery!........ I'm just miserable and needed to vent!

Hey Chav1,

Listen girly, you could be my surgery clone. I had my sleeve done 7/16 and also had the swelling. It hurt each time I took a sip of Water. I had go back on iv's and stayed 5 full days in the hospital hooked up to them. When I left it literally took me an entire day to drink a bottle of Water 16oz. I am two weeks out today and can only get down 2 bottles of water. I know others who were drinking their 64oz and going back to work a week later. I still hurt and my doctor gave me an additional week off. Trust me it gets better. Really I would say it has only been about 4 days that I have felt somewhat human. I cannot even keep a multi Vitamin down but am able to eat soft foods. I have even lost 19 pounds. Still hoping to soon feel completely back to normal. Best of luck and hang in there. I didn't expect it to be this hard either.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
