Need to get back on the Band wagon

Recommended Posts

I was banded back in 2009 and have done well with it. had lost a total of 70 lbs at one point. I had a problem with my band about 2 years ago and had to have all the Fluid removed. which then I gain about 50 lbs back. I was eating everything and anything - not good. I have been in the process of getting back to my sweet spot but keep having problems. I get a fill - eat my liquids and then my softs and then on to solids and everything is fine ... then about 2 weeks in I get to were I can't keep any thing down but a little bit of liquids so I have to get a un-fill. I am so tired of having this sudden problem of not being able to keep food down.

I need to get back serious about my eating - can any body give me some great ideas for lunches and Snacks that will be good to take to work and snack on. I have to get serious about my eating and losing.

What does your Dr say could be the problem?

Hard to advise you if you can't keep solids down? That's an issue you need to address if you want to succeed?

I suggest that you get a barium swallow to make sure your band hasn't slipped.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
