I've not been very secretive about my surgery. I've told everyone that I'm having it, when and why. I work in plus size fashion and so I'm in an environment where over weight women are the majority. When I lose the weight, I hope I might be able to motivate and inspire people and I feel I can't really be that to them if they don't know the full story.

Did you keep your surgery secret? Why or why not? I'd love to hear from you all

I have told one close friend and my family. Thats it. Didnt want to deal with the negative feedback I was going to get from others, I'm stressed enough.

It never dawned on me to keep it a secret. I've told everyone at home and at work. I had surgery 5 weeks ago and two people at work have asked me for referrals to my surgeon. I think I presented it in a manner that projected an "I'm very confident about this so don't think of judging the choice just be happy for me". Family expressed concern because it is a major surgery, but not judgment over the choice itself. Friends were the same. All were supportive, but I don't think I really gave them an option to be anything but otherwise

I'm like you Stanhope. I know I've done my research and I know this is the right route for me. People tend to feed off the vibe you give sometimes.
