Green zone to red zone

Recommended Posts

Posting this for my boyfriend who had the lap band as well. He has done extreme well and is considered a rare case of perfect lap band loss. In 8 months he lost 100+lbs. he has been in the green zone since February. But lately all of a sudden he can't keep anything down. How can this be? Any idea what's going on?

Do you remember if this started after a specific event? Maybe something he had upset the band, got swollen, and he hasn't given it enough time to settle. Maybe he should go on liquids for 3-4 days... That's what I would do. If things keep coming up... Call his doc.

I agree 110% with what HotButterFly says....

I would not call 100% rare at all...except maybe on this forum...there are many who have 100% success and simply have no reason and nothing to gain (except frustration at times) by hanging around this forum where perhaps 80% are still learning...

I have been at this 100% success place for years now....

Does your boyfriend do anything for maintenance? Granted, this is not a diet and the word maintenance does not exist with weight loss surgery the same as it would...

Being as you say, 100% successful, on tends to forget the band is even there...going about your daily business day by day....

But the band is there and needs attention now and then...if not, it will let you know....people at that point understand what I'm talking about.

I don't know how long he has been at the place were he has completed all this, but people who have been can feel subtle differences when they happen and can usually have some understanding as to what from the daily routine has become different,

If this is something he has no clue what may have happened, and not sure what to do, or what he usually does, then he should contact his Dr. as soon as possible...may be something completely out of his control....

A dr. will usually do a complete un-fil, accomplishing the same thing HotButterFly is saying....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
