Took a spill.....

Recommended Posts

I was helping a friend of mine move on Saturday (i'm only 2 weeks out but dont worry i was only carrying a couch cushion ;) ) well it was dark out and thier new sidewalk has a crack in it and of course i'm a clutz and fell, right on my stomach!!!! My ego was pretty bruised but nothing else...I was soooo scared of hurting my band of it slipping. I dont feel bad now or anything my stomach is all itchy since my incisions are healing but i figure thats pretty normal....anyway, should I go see my surgeon, I am just really worried about my band being misplaced or messing up my port...is that something that can occur very easily in the first few weeks? As you can tell i'm rambling cause i'm nervous!

Thanks

KT

Hi Katie..sorry to hear of your fall but happy to hear you are OK

If it was me who took that fall 2 weeks post op. I would if anything call my surgeon to let him know what happened. I know the healing stage is important for things to set into place. It will put your mind at ease. I'm 6 months post op and am always thinking my band has slipped or my port has flipped without having a fall. I think that is normal. Maybe call your Dr. and see what he thinks. It can't hurt to call right?

Good Luck ~

Hi Katie,

sorry to hear about your fall. I agree with michelle, call to keep your mind at ease. In all likelyhood, everything is fine and in place, but why not make that phone call and be reassured.

You should take it easy for a few more weeks too!

cheers

tellie

Hi Katie,

Your not the first one that has had a case of clumsiness right after getting the band. My dogs pulled me over in our gravel driveway about two weeks after surgery. I was worried too but felt fine and healed fine. Best of luck and watch your step, Teresa

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
