I had my sleeve on July 16th. They found a hernia that needed repair also, so I figured my recovery would take a bit longer. I went home 1 day after the procedure on liquid pain meds. I had to take them every 4 hours the first and second day home. The taste from the pain meds made me sick so I switched to children's Tylenol. Today, I woke up pain free. Feeling good! Gas pains have lessened. Just trying to get in all my fluids. I found Hood Skim Milk for 10 grams of Protein and it is a treat! Today, I am mixing in Isopure with Crystal Light to get in more protein.

I heard that Hood milk is sold at Walmart too... although I haven't been out shopping yet.

My nurse called Isopure "isopuke" I will have to agree with her.

I have been doing the unjury chicken broth (21 g Protein) and adding a little Tomato or beef bullion to mix up the flavor a bit.

There is a trick to it though.. mix it while it is cold. Then microwave or 15 seconds, stir, repeat... until hot... Or you end up with some yucky stuff.

Sleeved 7/14/14

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
