Congratulations to you! My surgery is scheduled for the 23rd (next week). I'm so nervous but I'm so excited to have those moments. One of my mini goals is to be able to wear the dresss I wore to my rehearsal dinner for my wedding. It's been ten years and I loved that dress. Yes I've kept it all this time in hopes I could get it on. :) I can't wait to wear it again. Serioulsy, I'm so happy for you!

I just left my internists dr he didn't do the surgery he is one of the drs that steered me to have it...he's been encouraging me the past 6 months...he was thrilled when he looked at my online report..his face lit up!! I told him about the esophagus spasms I had being I also had hernia repair. .he said it didn't surprise me..it's major surgery. ..all nerves are detached..so he gave me some lidocaine to spray way back in throat to numb..but I told him the first 5 days were worst an there easing up..much better..after day 1 since I still couldn't sip bc of pain spasm I told my surgeon I wanted another day of iv fluids didn't want dehydrated so I spent 2 full days..don't leave hospital unless u can down liquid...yea it's going to take around the waking hrs to sip but I no some drs are fast to get u out like u no wat. ..talk to him be for ur date an then remind him of wat u bog talked about..believe me they don't remember they do this soo much! Hang in there...oh an I have been using the chike nutrition Protein flavors an I bout a different brand at Kroger unflavor Protein I put it in my Soups, coffee, tea..yogurt..whatever food just to make sure I'm getn enuff protein. .you can do this!! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
