I was "sleeved" on 6/30, and I called my surgeon's office today to inquire about when I can get in the pool/ ocean. They told me I can swim at 3 weeks, which will be next Monday...

While I trust the information I was given, I'm just wondering if others out there in the sleeve community have had experience swimming 21 days after surgery. I'm trying to avoid any potential incision site issues (or issues in general). Thanks in advance for any info!

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread as well. I'm 3 weeks out as of today and ready to swim. My surgeon cleared me I could at the end of this week. We're waiting a few extra days since one of my incisions was a little iffy.

Mine said when the incisions are healed completely. Took about 4 weeks for the port one to be completely healed.

Lol.. ok guess I forgot to ask my surgeon. But lucky for me I was already 20 days in but I did go to walgreens and picked up waterproof bandaids. Double down on the incision where the drain was.

Note: incisions where already closed. I still came out every 15 min just to check. Didnt want Water goin in.

Thanks for the feedback/ advice. I don't have drain site (my surgeon doesn't do that), so maybe that's why they say only three weeks? I wonder...

I swam within 3 weeks of surgery. My son had his appendix out laporscopicaly 2 weeks ago and got cleared for swimming Monday. Surgeon didn't want him to miss the summer.

My surgeon wanted me working out as soon as I could after surgery as long as I didn't push myself. The only restriction I had was lifting heavy weights at the gym. If he has cleared you then go for it!!

I was allowed to get back in the pool at 2 weeks. No drain for me either. I had no problems.

No drain and in the pool as soon as I was told I could shower! Loving Florida and my pool!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
