I've seen people on this board talk about Quest Protein Bars and how good they are. I've even seen a few people say that, for them, these bars are a trigger food and that they couldn't keep them in the house; but I could never understand it. To me, Protein bars are the kind of food that you tolerate or choke down, but never one that you crave. Until this weekend, when I had my first Quest bar and now I get it. Those things are delicious and I could totally see myself over-eating them!

Really? I thought they were gross and disgusting and had a hard time with one. Just can't do it.

I have only had one and it was quite yummy. It tasted much better than the nasty Pure Protein one's that I can barely gag down. I look forward to trying more of them but yes, they do taste more like a candy bar than a Protein Bar.< /p>

These were recommended by my NUT and yes, I love them. However, they are so dense, I can still only eat a half one and I'm 5 weeks out (today). Some of the flavors are better than the others -- there's a chocolate chip cookie one that is SO good! And the oreos and cream one is pretty tasty, too.

They are a healthy choice (no sugars, no carbs) but if they're addictive to you, it wouldn't be so healthy now would it? :)

I'm with you! It's crazy how people's tastes vary so greatly. I can't stomach Pure Protein bars. They have such a chemical taste to them. They're all my hubby likes, and he haaates Quest Bars, which I love. It works out pretty well for us. Lol.

Here's another good source: http://www.luckyvitamin.com/ You can purchase by the bar.

I order from Lucky, because they also carry my Protein shake brands and even my Shampoo and body wash.

I get them at the grocery store in the health food section or at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. Trigger food... Not for me, but they're a nice alternative to a shake or good for a meal on the run. Be careful though, they are VERY high in Fiber as well as protein! That alone is motivation for me to enjoy no more than 1 per day!

Oh my gawd! They are like a candy bAr in my house. I have to keep them in my freezer in the garage. They are an excellent alternative to a Protein Shake or a meal on the go, but one that I sure could over indulge on that's for sure.

So I am confused, why is the high Fiber a bad thing? I need that to stay regular(LOL) can only eat the Quest bars at about 1/3 of a bar at a time, but they are delicious and they were life savers on a recent business trip and boat outing. ..

I noticed fiber bars have sugar whereas the Protein bars don't.

About to eat a think thin bar. Let's hope it's better

I get these at fairway market - they have a wall of different types of bars.

If you email them from their website, Quest will send you 2 sample bars for free. Your choice of flavor!

Give them your name, address and bar choice as well as why you want to try them (bariatric surgery). They're super nice to work with!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
