Great to meet you all as well.. I will be starting my liquid diet in a few more weeks to get ready for the my important time and new beginning of my life.. I have been on YouTube and watched many success stories and many tips they give.

How is everyone else feeling?

I've been excited for so long because I've been working toward this since the beginning of last year! When I received approval the beginning of July, it finally hit me that this is real, and it's going to be difficult, but I'm ready for this. I've spent so many months preparing and the fact that I'm nervous just reminds me that this is not a quick fix and this is by no means going to be easy! I've also watched my fair share of videos, read tips, forums, etc. Everyone who has gone through this says they regret NOTHING and I know I will be feeling the same way through this journey! How are you feeling? Sorry if I said too much, just being honest! :)

Hi Katarina, I live in ND and do not have a date set but am hoping for mid sept. Love to have a wt loss buddy. Will keep up with you and wish you wonderful success.

Hey Everyone!

My name is Katarina, I'm 26 and I live in Minnesota! Just met with my surgeon today to schedule my VSG! I chose Tuesday, September 2nd, the day after Labor Day! My pre-op liquid diet starts Saturday, August 23rd. Wondering if anyone else is having surgery on or around this date? I would LOVE to have a surgery buddy! Someone who is going through what I am, when I am, so we can help each other out! Also, if anyone has an Instagram, my user name is liberianne_gal. I follow tons of amazing men and women who have went through Weight Loss Surgery and have fantastic stories! Can't wait to create my own!

Hope to talk to some of you soon!

Katarina :D

Thank you love! I just sent you a personal message and I wish you the same! Crazy how this is becoming so real!

Hi my name is Karen. I live in MA. My tentative date is Sept 4th if all goes well with insurance approval. I shouldn't have any probs though. Luckily I don't have to do liquid diet pre op. I've been on a 6 month program all along. Can't wait to see how we all do. This will be both scary and exciting.

Hi Karen! Can you tell us a little about the 6 month program you've been on? I also can't wait to see how we all do! :D

I had so many visits with the nutritionist, the main dr, an excercise specialist, and a psych person. Plus I had to attend a wkly forum for 4 weeks that included discussions on nutrition, excercise, medical and behavioral. Then of course I met with the surgeon. Plus cuz of my issues I found out I have sleep apnea (took another 3 vists to him) and have to have upper GI this week bc of acid reflux. So all together I've had 18 appts. But over all I don't mind any of it bc I know I'm headed down the right path to becoming a healthier and happier person. The time really did fly by.

Hi, my surgery will be September 3rd, I'm in Boston. Ive been waiting awhile for this - was approved in May but waited because I was traveling over the summer - but I am getting more and more afraid as the date is getting closer. I'm not afraid of the actual surgery (although that will probably come too) but of the hair loss, loose skin, and the fact that it is irreversible. I go back and forth between having these fears and also being so excited for a new start in life. Would love to be buddies as we go through all this together, and good luck to all of you!!

I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about the same things! This is something I have been working toward since the beginning of last year and I've been excited all along. Now that I've finally met the requirements and have received approval, I'm nervous as hell and I'm questioning if I'm making the right decision. I've prayed so much! The loose skin and Hair loss, I've accepted. I just want to come out of this with no major complications and I just want to be successful! You are the day after me! I will be thinking about you! Anytime my fears get the best of me, I just think to myself why I started in the first place. The benefits of this surgery outweigh all the negatives and fears for sure! BTW, my boyfriend is from Boston, Dorchester to be exact. He's moved to MN with me, but I should be in the area for Thanksgiving! I hope his family doesn't get offended I can't eat a much!

My surgery will be September 15th. Not nervous yet, but trying out the post-op diet to see how it goes. I am in San Diego and have chosen to go to Tijuana for the surgery.

Hi, I'm Kelley and I am scheduled for surgery September 3rd also. I'm about half way through all of my appointments. Wow, I have never been to so many different kinds of appointments in my life! I am self pay because my insurance doesn't cover any form of weight loss surgery, but it has covered some of the screening process like sleep study, EGD, etc., so I haven't had the long journey a lot of you have already traveled. I have a 2 week liquid diet pre-op, that will start 8/20. Currently my obsessive thought are swirling around that, and the 3 week post op liquid diet. Yikes! 5 weeks on nothing but liquids? I can promise you that I struggled with the 1 day liquids only before my EGD and have never gone even more than 1 day on liquids only. Am I the only one freaking out over this?

Yes Kelly I am pretty concerned about the diet. I have gone one day with liquids at times and always feel very weak. With my doctor, I hear they push special Protein options like protein Jello? Haven't been to the class yet but I know the protein thing should help some. I also understand the weight starts to come off quickly? And that keeps people encouraged. Guess we will see, huh? I'm trying to take one step at a time because I know this is right for me right now. I'd be curious to know anyone's age? I just turned 50. Anyone else doing this late like me? Sheri

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
