Post sleeve skin issues

Recommended Posts

Yes!!! I was sleeved on June 30 and I have most 30 pounds...I have started itching like crazy and have the same eczema looking rash on certain spots of my body. I have no clue why. I know sometimes when you gain/loose weight rather fast and your skin stretches or shrinks it can cause your skin to itch. I don't know what to do or put on it?

I had a rash in my first month or two. I just put anti itch cream and made sure not to scratch. It lasted like 3 weeks.

Mine is on my face. I did a little research on some types of dermatitis. Apparently weight loss is a common trigger of several types of dermatitis. Mine is so frustrating and itchy I'm considering seeing a dermatologist. Putting make up on makes my face look scaly but no make up looks worse. I really hope it goes away.

I'm only 4 days out of surgery and my incisions are itching like crazy.

I had same thing, like poison Ivy, red, bumpy and itched like crazy. I had to use anti-itch creme and wait it out. Turns out some of us become allergic to the adhesive they use to help seal our incisions. This was the worst part of early recovery because it was so constant and would wake me up in the night. I stayed on pain killers an extra week to get through it.

As anyone dealt with exema type skin issues since having the surgery?

Yes, I had an itchy rash that started on my right arm near my shoulder. Then it spread to my left shoulder and back. I had to go to the dermatologist who said it could have been an allergic reaction to the anesthesia. They gave me a cream which has worked but at 3 months post op I still have 1 little bump on my right arm where the rash initially started. I will address this with my dermatologist at my next appointment. I hope all goes well for you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
