Da Vinci syrups. Oh my!

I've tried raspberry, cinnamon, blueberry, and strawberry. I already ordered my 2nd bottle of raspberry as I'm running low. :) I am going to order chocolate and Cherry.

I use strawberry, cinnamon, and raspberry in my Chocolate Matrix and blueberry and cinnamon in my vanilla Matrix.

You can use these syrups in your coffee (blech... coffee), you can make s/f snow cones, Italian Ice, you can apparently bake with them (what do I know about baking?) and you can do pretty much anything with them.

I love them so far. Anyone else use them regularly?

Da Vinci syrups. Oh my! <snip> I love them so far. Anyone else use them regularly?

I use Vanilla DaVinci Syrup all the time. It's pretty universal -- anything that'd be good with a creamy background can be mixed with the Vanilla.

In the old days, I added the vanilla or cherry flavors to Coke - love a Vanilla or Cherry Coke, but can't stand cola straight up at all. Now I improve the flavor of vanilla Protein Powder by adding Vanilla DaVinci. I also put the vanilla in the orange samples I tried (universally disgusting) to make a more creamy Creamsicle flavor. And I toned down the more overpowering, chalky chocolate samples with the vanilla syrup.

Oh -- add the caramel one to chocolate or vanilla or coffee Protein powders for a sweet drink! Plus, to Syntrax Nectar Roadside Lemonade (gag!), I add the raspberry syrup to make a Raspberry Lemonade. It's not strong enough to overpower that whey taste all the Syntrax Nectars have, but it makes that particular one palatable.

Helpful Hints:

A) DaVinci Syrups don't need to be refrigerated.

:) They have a 2-year "best by" shelf-life from date of manufacture (but you can continue to use them after this date though the flavor's strength will diminish with time).

C) For around $5, you can get the large 750ml/25oz size in the gourmet section of TJ Maxx/Marshals.

Does anyone have a really good substitute for non-dairy coffee creamer? It's the one vice I'm completely unable to give up. I've tried several Protein and whey powders and so far nothing even touches it. I'm ashamed to admit at work I use 8 packets in a 16 oz cup and our whole office runs on caffeine all day long. Nothing smells better than a fresh pot of coffee when it's being brewed and when that happens I'm just like an alcoholic ( I think ), absolutely unable to ignore the craving. I'd really appreciate anyone's input on this.

Thanks!

Susie313

I'm not quite sure what you're looking for when you say "substitute" for Creamer, but maybe this'll help.

I love creamy, sweet coffee -- with or without added flavors. What I do now is add Caffeine-Free sugar-free General Foods International "Vanilla Creme" to hot or cold coffee. It is not a coffee mix, but a vanilla drink like hot cocoa is a chocolate drink. Adding it to coffee makes the coffee really creamy and sweet at the same time. Click here for the nutrition label! Since it is a powder, you could just keep it at your desk.

I also use the sugar free International Delight or Coffee Mate liquid coffee Creamers in my hot or iced coffee, but in those are liquids & thus not handy, I'm not sure that it would help your situation much.

Good luck & let me know if you find something wonderful! :)

Thanks Zannie for the info on the DaVinci syrups!!! I've just discovered them and didn't know exactly what to put them besides shakes. Thanks for the different suggestions on the Protein Drinks. I tend to be a boring person when it comes to that, not experimenting to see what goes with what.

I love the taste of cinnamon. Does the Syrup really taste like cinnamon? I had heard some others say it didn't taste that great, but I guess everyone has their own tastes, huh? I think I'm going to try it anyway.

Again, thanks for the tips.

Thus far I think I am one of the few who does like Da Vinci Cinnamon. It does not have a strong burst of cinnamon flavor, it tastes like S/F cinnamon candy. More subtle.

Raspberry is my fav with chocolate Matrix. I just got my Chocolate and Cherry yesterday, haven't tried them yet. This sounds silly but I found them at Hi Health yesterday but they didn't have pumps. I ordered pumps for the bottles from Netrition.com and I don't want to open the bottles until I get the pumps. A little OCD, I know. No need to say it! :)

I have to laugh, these bottles are the size and shape of a 5th of liquor, that type bottle. Some come in plastic and some come in glass bottles. I have pumps for each bottle. When I open my cupboard it looks like the inside of a bar with liquor bottles and white plastic pumps. Sheesh...

Hi Bubble-

I hadn't even thought of pumps. I just used my Kahlua for the first time in some vanilla pudding. YUMMO-as Rachel Rae would say. (Yes, I WAS a food network fanatic-LOL!)

So it's better to use the pumps? How much comes out in a squirt? I may have to invest in some of those too. I have 4 or 5 large bottles and 3 small bottles, but I'm sure I'll buy more as time goes by.

My husband and I go tomorrow for our surgeries, he goes at 11:30 and I go at 1:30. I'm getting a little nervous, but that's probably the norm with most people. I'm also excited because I feel like I'm closing the old book of my life and starting a new one.

You've REALLY lost a lot of weight. You go girl!!! :)

Keep up the good work!!

Jackie

Bubble, When I come to AZ, we are going to have to go shopping. I need all the stuff you are mentioning. I am so lazy, I usually just do the low carb slim fast drinks. Is there a Hi Health in Mesa? Is that a health food store chain?

I don't know if there is a Hi Health in Mesa or not but there probably is. Yes, it's a health food store, similar to GNC. I just like the ladies who work at Hi Health because they don't try to sell me a bunch of garbage that won't work and if I buy something I don't like I can always return it. I don't - but I like knowing I can if I want. Even if there isn't one in Mesa it's no big deal, we'll just come to Phoenix. Or I can bring you some, or I can mail you some. Or or or.... ;)

I snagged a bunch of samples of Matrix recently and I'll be able to snag some more in a week or so. I still have a box of samples I have to mail out to people that are still sitting by my front door. When I get more Matrix samples I'll mail you some if you want. Cheaper than buying something and discovering you don't like it.

When you come here you can try a bunch of different flavors of Da Vinci syrups. Hi Health carries a few flavors but Netrition.com - The Internet's Premier Nutrition Superstore! carries all the flavors and the pumps. You are welcome to try mine first before you buy it in case you don't like some/all of them. Raspberry... yummmm.

Do you like soy sauce?

I found a Salad Dressing that is soooooooooo good! But you have to like soy sauce for it to be any good.

It is:

Ken's Steak House Lite Asian Sesame with Ginger & Soy salad Dressing.

It's an oil base so ANY veggie, cooked or fresh slides down and works great! I bought it at the grocery store.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
