My kids always came first. Can you borrow the money, get some part time work or slim down your monthly expenses?

I have to pay $2900 out of pocket and I am a single mom. I get it. My daughter comes first too. Can you buy only a few basics and wait a few months? Not sure how old your kids are. Mine wouldn't know the difference but she has uniforms that still fit from last year too. Or postpone the surgery for a couple of months. That would not be giving up your dream but a few months is better than no surgery.

I think that you should try your best to go forward with the surgery.

Scrape together the basics they need to start school, beg borrow steal if necessary :P. You can always add some new clothes and things in a few months, which will be when the seasons are changing anyway.

I happen to think that the very best and most effective way you can provide for your kids and put them first is to care for their Mother's health. If you are healthy and happy then all else will fall into place because you are at your best. :)

34 single mother of three active boys

@@meme2you

as with many other people - you have put yourself on the back burner while raising your kids

i "think" we all get that

but...............its time to look out for #1 (thats you silly head :D )

when someone is not covered with insurance - that is awful

$400.00 or $40,000.00 might be hard to reach, but try

your body/clothes sizes will continue to change as you lose weight

many, many, many people seek out thrift shops to buy their clothes

doesn't make sense to buy anything expensive to only be able to wear briefly

you made the wise decision to have surgery (sleeve, bypass??)

don't second guess yourself now :o

hope you can work this out so we can see you at the front of the line where you belong :)

good luck

kathy

When comparing real necessities vs. what we really need - think of what your children need, speak to the school and tell them you have surgery coming up and need assistance this year with school supplies. SELL OLD CLOTHES, OLD VIDEOS, GAME SYSTEMS, - go through the house. Sell, sell, sell. Check your 401K to see if you can get a loan against it. Cut off your cable, reduce your cell phone to talk and text only. No eating out.

It will add up.

Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
