Soreness around incision site and stomach 10 days post op?

Recommended Posts

The last couple of days I have much soreness. All activities of daily life. Bending over bad. Im still sleeping flat on my back unable to turn due to pain.

Im really taking it easy. I have to.

So Im wondering if anyone has experience with this? Im hopeful that it will go away. I also wonder if my new stomach hurts? You know inside my body?

You are NOT alone! I'm 9 Days post op and my large incision site where they pulled out my stomach is very very painful! Sitting, bending, even going to the bathroom hurts so badly. It's not just the incision, it's the area all around the incision too. It feels like something is "ripping" inside me when I move around.

I had this same pain when I had my lapband placed 3 years ago and it took 3 months for the pain to go away, so I'm hoping and praying it won't be the same this time around!

Some people have stitches in there that is the problem. Check with your doc if it persists.

I am 3 days post op and still in a lot of pain. All of it from the main incision site from where they took out my stomach. The other incisions I barely feel. I can barely get up to go bathroom, walking, bending, everything is painful. Not having any diet or liquids issued thankfully. Do you know how much longer this should last?

Thanks

I felt great until I drove. Now I'm in severe pain around the large incision site. I a there something I'm doing wrong?

It will get better. I had pain all throughout incisions sites when I stood, sat or walked too long which NO ONE had prepared me for and I'm not one to be weak... Exactly 4 weeks later (to the day) the pain just magically disappeared. So hang in there, rest when you're tired and know that it will go away (sooner rather than later). Good luck!

How long were you sleeved before you drove? I have been told 3 months before I can drive, go to the swimming pool or gym.

Im 13 days post op and still have pain at incision where the stomach came out. I think I over did it the other day cleaning house and yesterday was so so sore, but a lot better today.

Okay to drive as long as not taking pain meds.

@Crafty - I was allowed to drive 2 weeks after surgery... But I cheated and drove to store a bit over a week after and totally regretted it as it knocked me out the entire day after I got home.

What my doctor recommended was to buy a small portable massager and massage incision sites when laying down and that help break down the scar tissue (which is the reason for the pain).

Hope advice helps!

I have not been on pain meds since day 4 because they were making me sick, but no chance on the driving etc until my stomach muscles have healed properly inside. I have also been told no citrus flavours in anything, so no diluting juice etc that has lemons, limes, or oranges in

Add me to the crazy incision pain party. Doc says they stitch the big incision to the muscle and 30% of patients will experience this pain. Could last up to 2 months. Yay us. Boooo. Trying that massager trick!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
