@@Blessed14Life I was also sleeved on the 28th. Had no emotional issues. I have difficulty getting in my required Water and Protein. My doctor told me the first 2 weeks are the most difficult, so hang in there. Keep your eye on the goal!

Hello fellow sleevers! I had my sleeve last Thursday August 28th. I'm still home recuperating. Still sore but nothing major. My major problem is I'm STILL HUNGRY! Like I crave eating, chewing, tasting. I can't seem to get out and start walking. Maybe because I'm still sore? I walk around my apartment & outside near my door. This is hard still a battle with food being on mind. Ugh!

Hi There Goldenyelladiva,

I totally hear you....I am hungry too...not just "head hunger" but really hungery....BUT, I have a creative Protein Shake (add some yogurt) or another kind of Soup, drink some Water and think about why I am doing this...as time passes the hunger goes away and I can get thru another hour or two.

I KNOW that I cannot just have a few bites....I have to do something DIFFERENT than what I have done in the past. THIS is definitely different....maybe just knowing that you are not alone will help.

YOU have helped me, thank you. We CAN DO THIS! Let's take it an hour at a time...and then one day at a time.

You are darn right we can sister....thank YOU. I have been struggling ALL my life. I weighed 235 when I was just 17 years old and have gone down, up, down, up...never, ever reaching my goal weight. I have tried everything, everything except wls....we are not in Jenny Craig or Weight Watcher zone here...this is serious stuff. We have undergone a surgery that removed 80% of an organ that we were born with...holy cow!

So with that said, we are going to stick it out and do it....time to go to bed. I don't eat when I sleep although sometimes I wish I could handcuff myself to bed. I want to sooo badly get Snacks. Now I know that it is comfort and calming I need to go to sleep and food is always the way I do this....and look where it has gotten me!

So, I am going to take a melatonin, try to get in bed and fall asleep...tomorrow we will feel better and the next day and the next.

Hang in there Golden!

@@DownPat so my doctor gave me noth the Celebrate and Bariatric Advantage but both of them are so strong they make me terribly sick for the rest of the day. Unfortunately my doctor is very ANTI over the counter Vitamins but my best friends doc told her to get the vita fusion chewable and that's what she takes and her blood work has been coming back great. So that's what I went and got and have been taking. The celebrate was the worse for me and mixing it with food only made me sicker. You just have to keep trying different things.

Goldenyelladiva, I too have the same problem. I was sleeved on the 20th of august and was doing great losing weight now I haven't lost a pound in 2 days. I am stopping from weighing myself everyday that's my first mistake. But now when I'm hungry I just drink some broth and it helps. They say it gets better when you start eating solids so I have 9 more days left of these Protein Shakes. . Head hunger is the worst!

I should stop weighing myself too. Two weeks haven't loss anything. I am reconsidering why did I do this again? Depressed. I am on purées and can hardly eat over 500 calories but still haven't loss any more weight. I guess I am now a Debbie downer :-(

You are not a Debbie downer. I am so anxious about going to the doctor today because if I don't lose it's going to send me downward to! After all we have gone thru you certainly would expect the scale to go down. Yes you probably should out the scale away too. :(. I was hoping to weigh more frequently so I could feel good about what I did to myself. I was losing faster on my own. Lol. I had lost nearly 60 pounds since May 31st with diet and exercise. I am trying to not be hard on myself but holy cow!

Stop paying so much attention to the scale. I know thats easier said then done. I would be a hypocrite if I say I didn't look at the scale a lot. I think we've all dieted enough to know that we're going to stall sooner or later. My weight stall came a lot sooner than I expected. I was stuck at 256 lbs for a little over a week. Even though I didn't lose a pound, I did lose size. My clothes fit looser and I had to buy another belt. Yes I was frustrated that the scale didn't move, but I knew I was doing everything right. I knew sooner or later the scale was going to move again. I also try to keep everything in perspective. This morning I weighed 252 lbs. When I got sleeved Aug. 4th I weighed 276 lbs. So even with my stall I still lost 24 lbs in a month.

Hey guys. I am checking in at day 8 of post op. I finally ate something and felt good with it. I pureed chicken breast, spaghetti sauce and a small piece of feta and it tastes like chicken parm, it really does. I am not able to tolerate Ensure high Protein powder nor the optisource Protein Drink. Both are gas central for me. I am pushing the Water and had my hubby buy me some Powerade for flavor. I have to do half juice and half Water. Of course I have loose stool as well. It's is expected because I am not consume more fluids than anything else. I did so some work yesterday and afterwards I felt like crap. I will not overwork myself like that again. Today is definitely better.

As far as Vitamins, I am taking 2 Flintstones Complete every morning until my first pre-op visit on the 8th. I know that my surgeon told me that Centrium chewables and Vitafusion were good. Caltrate and Citracel were good for the Calcium.

In regards to the scales and weight lose. My advice is to ste p away from the scale. You are going to run yourselves nuts, I know I would. Just sit back and check out your body. Did your tummy go down? Do your legs look smaller? How about your arms? Does your bra and undies fit? These are the things that I notice all ready. I remember reading a post in another forum about a woman saying she didn't know about stalls because rarely weighed herself. Which makes sense. I would say just keep pushing it and maybe limit weigh-in to once a month. As long as you stick to your team's plan and stay on top of the Fluid, it will come off. I try to measure out no more than 1/4 cup of food. I hope this helps.

Later Losers!

I had the same thing, two weeks with no change but I've finally gone down a few more in the last couple of days. If you check any of the stall threads, you'll see that it's super common but it's still so frustrating so early on, even if your brain knows that it's common. Hang in there, it's not forever.

You made a very important decision for yourself and family. We just got sleeved and it will take time. Don't be depressed about something that is good for you. Tell your hubby to hide the scale, lol.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
