I thought you weren't suppose to fly do to risk of embolism

Good point Chris! I guess if you are flying you should be sure that they give you blood thinners and that you wear compression stockings??

Today is Day Five post-op (was sleeved August 18).

I am doing GREAT! Did three loads of laundry this morning, folded, hung and put it all up.

Tummy is only mildly sore.

Am amazed at how well I'm drinking, sipping, slurping.

Am up to 49 grams of protein/day (yesterday). Going up every day. Not trying to be the World Champ during Week One -- just do a little better every day.

I lost THREE FREAKIN' POUNDS LAST NIGHT! That's a personal best, for sure! (And yes, I'm probably still shedding IV weight. But it's still 4 pounds less than just before surgery.)

In other words (knock on wood), I'm lovin' this. :)

Yay that's exciting!! 4 pounds even when Water weight is awesome. That's about a bag of sugar you no longer have to carry arround!

Yes Chris - that was a concern of mine too- but they told me to get compression stockings... and Im instructed to move my feet and legs while I sit and walk every 30-45 minutes on the plane. I have 3 friends that went to this hospital - same treatment - and they are all giving me advice too... so I feel comfy with the planning.

My full liquid stage starts next Wednesday that's wen I start getting in all that protein. I really don't have a problem getting anything down but the major area longest incision is tight and uncomfortable. My question though did anyone have diarrhea(TMI) but this is how learn. Hang in there I am trying to do the same.

I was sleeved on 8/14. Struggled with nausea and some vomiting + dry heaves the first 24 hours after surgery. Took a few tries to find something that helped. So I got an extra night's stay. (In Thurs. and out Saturday).

The few days following I kept getting stomach/chest/back pains that came and went. I was expecting the incisions to bug me but not this. And this really hurt :-(

So after a rough night Monday night, I called the dr.'s first thing Tuesday. I was asked if I could come in. So of course I did.

Initial exam was fine. No real alarm bells per se, but they ordered some blood work and an ESD. By the time I was done, the Dr. had the results and ends up I developed acid reflux. (I actually saw it on the ESD) Never had any issues before. The acid could also have been behind the nausea in the hospital.

So my PPI was doubled and I was told I could take Tums if also needed.

It's believed that this will go away as the swelling goes away. Hope so!

So now I'm doing fine. Getting all of my Protein and fluids in. Definitely getting tired of yogurt, apple sauce, and Protein Shakes all ready, lol. Just 2.5 weeks until pureed :-)

I've heard that sometimes they cut you if your liver is too large and they can't maneuver around it. I haven't heard of making your stomach smaller so it doesn't leak. Why would he do that? Does he thing the lap band did something to your stomach.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
