Any other August 5th surgeries!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

I started this journey on March 31. Jumped thru the insurance hoops. Packet was sent to insurance on June 23rd. Was approved by Cigna on July 2nd. Surgery (VSG) is scheduled for August 5th. I will do a 1 week pre-op full liquid diet starting on July 28th.

Nervous, but excited.

I live about 1.5 hours from where the surgery will be performed (because the local bariatric center NEVER called me back to schedule my initial consult! After contacting them several times and hearing, "We'll call you back.")

So my surgeon's office has set me up to stay overnight in a hotel the night before my surgery.

I created a group called "August 5th or Around Sleevers"

You can find it on Community/Support Groups.

I thought it would be easier to find if we have our own space. Please join!

I am August 5th as well! I'm super excited but I've also started the dreaded "what am I doing to myself." I know that having this surgery is a must but it's so hard to digest (pun intended) the fact that I'm losing a large part of myself. I'm sad to say goodbye to all of the food that has been my best friend for so long, but in the end I can't wait to see the old me that has been lost for so long. I'm super excited and super scared. Anyone else feel that way?

Yes! Every day is a rollercoaster of "I'm so excited, I want to do it NOW!" and "omg, what have I done, this will be terrible!" Reading the forums has mostly helped me lean towards excitement, especially with the number of great success stories and the fun NSVs but some of the problems do make me worry. It will be a huge change but I guess if what I had going right now was working, I wouldn't be here in the first place.

That is exactly how I feel too! I'm more excited than I am scared. I just want to get this over with so I can move on. I've tried it all too, I'm right there with ya!

I have found myself becoming more and more nervous as the dates becomes closer... I have an almost 2 year old son (2 in November) and he is over the 20 pound limit for lifting my Dr. has put in place for post surgery.... My husband is obviously 100% on board and will help as much as possible but there are times where I am home in the afternoon while he is still at work. Makes me worry that I might not be able to do things as simple as lifting him in and out of his carseat... I work full time so I am not going to be able to drop off and pick up from daycare without having to pick him up physically!?!?! :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
