40, Sleeved, 2 yrs out, low Testerone

Recommended Posts

Since being sleeved a little over 2 years ago, I turned 40 and I had my hormones checked bc Im not sleeping well, major fatigue in daytime, extremely low sex drive. A woman's testerone is supposed to be in the 100's, mine was 34. So Im on testerone cream where a phamistist makes the right amount for me. I've been on it for a few weeks and Im still having the same issues. Maybe it takes time for the cream to work. Has anybody had this issue?

HI Tiffa,

Im brand new to the group, and stumbled around your post.

to be clear, im not a medical professional, but i have made some serious progress with my own hormone issues...the following is not medical advice, but some pointers to run past your doctor.

Run this past your doctor,..as you mentioned you not getting good quality sleep and fatigue and low sex drive (sounds familar !!).

There is a direct correlation between sleep apnea, and low testostone.

It really could be that simple.

The solution

short term - get a sleep study done - and if you have Sleep apnea - get a CPAP machine / and a great nights sleep. & stay on the cream.

Long term - weight loss the the best cure for sleep apnea - when you lose the fat - you lose the cpap machine - and lose the hormone issues !!!

GOOD NEWS !! - I hope this helps all the best

thank you for your thoughts, I have lost a little over 90 lbs after surgery. I had slight sleep apnea before surgery, but didn't have to get the cpap. I refuse to have anything hovering over my face when I sleep. I have been on the cream for 3 weeks or so now. It takes time for your body to get acculamated to it. I have been sleeping much better most of the time. I have noticed the harder I exercise the better I sleep. I do have 50 more lbs I would like to loose, so maybe when I get that accomplished sleep will be better?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
