Feeling a bit of "pinching" -- what is it?

Recommended Posts

OK, I will be calling my doctor about this but was wondering what this pain/pinching feeling is.

As I go through my day, I feel perfectly fine. But if I press on my stomach near the top right scar, I feel tremendous pain/pinching feeling. It feels like there is a piece of glass that I am pressing on if that makes sense. I also feel it if I am sitting but have to bend over to the side to pick something up (because I swear I'm constantly dropping things!). What could this possibly be? Is it just a normal thing I"m going through? A hernia?

To be clear, I had my gastric bypass in January of this year and have been on regular food for quite a while so this is not fresh scars still healing.

Did I pull something apart? Also, I started Zumba last week but this doesn't feel like sore muscle kind of issue.

Other than that, I feel great.

Thanks,

I'm dealing with this for ten days and the doctor's staff is ignoring me. I'm in agony.

I have the same pain in the same place. It isn't constant and seems to be caused by different activities (though not consistently) and doesn't seem to be helped by ice/heat/massage.

When I asked my nurse, I was told that it was essentially a combination of the scar tissue and abdominal muscles not playing nicely. She said it should subside at around 6 months but if it didn't that I should set up an appointment to let them check things.

Are you about 6 months out? I felt this in the same spot and am 6 months out. I finally saw my doctor and she said that it is the stitches dissolving. It felt like there was broken glass inside. And it was worse when I touched that spot--REALLY painful! But then it corrected itself, which now I know means the stitch dissolved. They are meant to dissolve at 6 months.

However, it is still best to find out for sure, especially if you are not at that 6 month mark.

I should have started at the top since I now see you were responding to my message which I never closed the loop on. I didn't see the doctor right away because I was going on vacation (I know, not smart). The pain finally did subside but I still brought it up when I went in for my 6 month visit just the other day and that is when the doctor told me it was the stitch dissolving and it can be quite painful. It was an inch or 2 away from the top right scar. She said that is the typical one that hurts. She said that some people feel the same pain around the navel, too, though I didn't feel that one as much. She said the stitches are meant to last 6 months and then they dissolve which is what this was. but it was scary!! And painful!

Im experiencing the same problem, but Im only a week out  . It started a couple of days ago, but I thought I may have poked myself with something and didnt realize it, or it was from my bra. I will be calling my surgeon's office this morning. Crossing my fingers its nothing serious. I feel a little pain (almost like a ball going down) when I sip liquids (and I thought I was taking very small sips), and Im also more drained today than I previously have been. I hope all this is not connected, and means something is wrong. :(

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
