Sore in a weird place after walking?

Recommended Posts

I haven't been exercising regularly, so now that school is out, I've decided to try and walk 30minutes a day like my nutritionist originally recommended.

Yesterday I walked a brisk 1.5 miles on the track (took me about 20 minutes) then in the evening, I walked a slow, leisurely 3/4 of a mile with my husband(that took about 15 minutes).

The strange thing is not only my legs are sore, but the sides of my torso are sore (about from my belly button to the top of my waist). When i cough, the muscles there actually hurt (kinda like when you catch a cold and you've coughed so much that your ribs are sore). My thighs are also sore, but that's to be expected I guess.

Had anyone else experienced this? When i did a combination of walk/running on the treadmill a few weeks ago, I wasn't sore in my lower waist afterward. What gives?

I don't have this. I did try to up the walking to jogging yesterday and I literally felt a staple move or something weird in the stomach area towards the back. Sticking with the long walks for now. I am fine on the elliptical. I love and hate that thing, it kicks my butt but I know it works.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
