Do you have a sheet from your doctor what you are allowed?

Hi there, pre-op protocols vary greatly -- each surgeon has their own process and the best advice for each person is to follow their program and not worry about what other people are doing. I'd you're not clear, give the doctor's office a call and get them to clarify. I had a two-week liquid diet -- others had three weeks or one, some have a meal a day plus shakes, etc. Goal is to cleanse and shrink the liver so it's easier for the surgeon to place the band. Best wishes to you and congratulations on getting to this place. It's big, this choosing of yourself and your healthy future. Be prepared for amazing things happening!

Thank you Bandista it hard but I'm hangin in there I have a lot of ppl in my family that don't support my decision because I'm only 22... But I've been fat all my life and I know I'm making the right decision for me plus my mother got banded 2 years ago, and has had amazing results so with her stand by my side I know I will be fine!:)

LOL  You're not going to like this but......Your pre-op plan is one of the more generous plans I've heard of. Congrats on taking the plunge and congrats on being able to actually eat real food pre-op :)

Relax, it does get much easier once you're banded. You won't be as hungry as you are now. How long do you have to stay on this protocol?

Most people are on a strict liquids only routine for 2 weeks. No solid food at all.

I hope your doctor has provided you with all the information on what is right for you to eat as your pre-op diet.If you are following his instructions properly then I think that everything should go smoothly. You do not need to be nervous or confused as lap-band is fast gaining acceptance because of its good rate of success. You have the good example of your mother who got banded two years ago.

Your pre-op diet sounds like mine did. 2 shakes then 4 oz of meat plus veggies. I did turkey burgers, chicken, turkey loin, tuna.. salads, roasted veggies, raw veggies. There are so many different combos.

On my pre op I was able tk drink diet drinks and sugar free tea. Which I lived on sugar free tea with splenda. I was also able to drink coffee and I found this whip cream I put a pick. It actually did taste good.. hope this helps

Its true that everyone's pre-op instructions are different. While I read many bandsters had liquid diets for a few weeks prior to surgery my doc didn't require any restriction. It is essential to do what your doc tells you and all will be well. I agree with you though, you are making a great decision, I know at least for me I feel that way. Even on my worst day I still feel so much better than I did on my best day forty pounds ago... Best of luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
