Dry brushing is taking a brush similar to a back scrubber and scrubbing your skin in a motion pointing towards your heart for better circulation and exfoliation of your skin. Moisturizing multiple times a day is supposed to improve the elasticity and bounce back of your skin. The concern is that when you've spent a long time very large aka me I've been obese 20 years, your skin in your fattest parts doesn't shrink as fast as the fat disappears, creating loose skin that looks a little like a deflated balloon. You can search pics on bariatric pal to see it first hand. It's like the only thing dreadful about wls cause there's no surefire way to prevent it and the fix is plastic surgery. But it's better than being diabetic or not having the fat chick section not have your size cause you went up another size (again that's all me)

Not exercising yet. Waiting until I can get about 500 calories in. My body doesn't like to lose if I'm working out and too low calorie.

So now that I'm eating puree food (actually more like soft food because I'm out of town and puree is near impossible. I'm starting to have food dreams. Lol. Anyone else?

So, as a two-time veteran of the Atkins diet wars, I know that my current diet of mostly Protein should have me in ketosis so losing should be pretty steady but with my smaller stomach it seems like losing is slower. I'm thrilled to not have any hunger so all worth it, but seems like weight came off faster before. Could be age or my body is still in freak out mode. Not sure.

Hello,

My wife and I had our surgery on May 29th. We've both lost around 35lbs with 10-12 of those pounds coming off in the pre-op diet.

My wife is eating about 500 calories per day. I'm eating about 900 per day. I still can't eat much per meal, but this brings me to my 1st issue (and hers a bit too).

1. I get hungry at night. I eat, then hungry an hour or two later. I don't get hungry before 4pm. I wake up at 7am and eat a greek yogurt or something for Breakfast and then Soup or something small for lunch. I can't eat over a cup (unless its liquid, then I can), I also don't drink during my meals or 15 minutes before and 30 mins after. My wife wife also gets hungry at night too, but not nearly as bad. She says pretty much the same thing, no hunger during the day but eats anyway to get her Protein, then hungry at night. Any cures for this?

2. I can't get enough Water in. I mean, before sleeve I drank like one glass a week or something but now I'm trying hard to get 64oz + per day but I just can't do it. I feel like the titanic taking in that much water! I usually get 48oz + Any tips?

Thanks!

Would love to join your group. Sleeved on 5/30.

HW = 265

SW = 256

CW = 236

Has anyone else had trouble drinking Protein shakes since surgery? I was fine with the whey Protein pre surgery and since then if I even smell it, my stomach retches. Even the Protein Shots and the clear Isopure drinks. I can do some of the pre-made drinks so I've had to resort to that to get protein in, but they are very expensive. I'm afraid my hair is all going to fall out from not getting protein, like it did when I was banded.

DSMCasey- think about when you used to eat or snack? Was it at night? I too thought I was hungry but after really thinking about it I was just going back to old habits! Bring bored, eating with TV watching. I changed this by making sure I get as much Protein in as possible. Also if I have to have something... I drink instead. I too don't like Water but propel, Vitamin water, crystal light etc help. Getting about 50-60 oz per day in. Carry it with u so drink drink drink. It helps that it's hot and summer time!

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
