Do you find your thin skin getting tougher with dry brushing? I can feel my skin and the thin stuff I'd the parts in sure will sag. I'd love for the skin to toughen, I feel like that's the only way to help. Anyone seen any before and afters with dry brushing?

Everyone is doing fantastic! How long is everyone planning on being in the purée stage? I think my dr said about two weeks or more. The best tool I've found in this stage is the NutriBullet. My husband went out and bought it for us, and I've used it every day since. I purre fruits and veggies. Made a butternut squash Soup. Healthy shakes for work. It's amazing! I'm going to stick close by that and lots of Beans and soft means like canned chicken or tuna. It all went down easy enough so we will see.

I'd love to hear what others are doing during this phase two of foods and what you guys are finding works for you. Keep it up!! We can lose tons of weight if we just focus and remember our goals. Let's do this!!! :)

@@devint I'm vegetarian, so I don't use fish oil. There are other sources of omegas if the fishiness is unpleasant for you. I take capsules with oil from algae. They also make me feel a bit nauseated, but only for about three or four minutes, but that's with any pill; there's no smell or taste or anything. The brand is German, but I know you could get something similar in the US.

@@WhoKnows thanks for that recommendation I haven't looked into that before but it makes sense that I should be able to find it.

@@mrsfitzpatrick I am afraid i'm going to wear out my blender by the time this is all done I use it so much! I am on purees for a total of two weeks, which means next friday i can move to soft unblended foods. Honestly, the purees are working out for me nicely, all except the chicken breast i did up was just a little dense and made me feel overfull after only 2 1/2 oz and that feeling lasted for 2 hours. Other than that, i've made hummus, green Beans, plums, pears, nectarines, bananas, thick Soups and chili and haven't had any issues with anything except my bariatric Vitamins go figure. I have had about three or four full liquid servings as i've gone along just to give variety and my tiny tummy a break for a meal (and use up all that i bought before it goes bad.)

Today I did something I haven't done in years… I packed a gym bag and brought it to work with me. I checked out the free fitness center in the basement and the locker rooms (not bad for freebie throw-in) and since the weather is 95F here, walking outside is brutal and it's time to start using gym equipment. Im going down in about an hour over lunch break, wish me luck on cardio!

Last night I was able to weed the gardens, which is a big deal because my husband is fanatic about having carpet-quality grass and then the flower beds looked like something out of the Jungle Book. I also discovered i have a very pesky and bad case of "postural hypotension" so standing and squatting causes extreme lightheadedness/dizziness. It made weeding an Xgames type of sport, but I pushed on with my daughter and got it all done.

Good point !! Hahahahah I will weigh tomorrow morning

Am feeling sad I'm hardly eating but not losing ... I don't understand how that's physically impossible when I'm eating so little

I understand just how u feel. I am eating like two meals a day and a couple of bites at each meal.

Have been same weight 3 days so figure I have to keep tricking my body. Other than Vitamins, eating almost nothing except Protein and a bit of low-cal dairy.

Clearly, my body believes this is Armageddon and is rallying to save me. Yesterday I took a long bike ride and today I swam for the first time since surgery. Eventually, it will be reflected in my weight but I can tell I've lost inches.

I told my husband it would be ironic is I did lose a bunch of weight and then, some day, need that fat in some post-disaster situation...

For those of you exercising a lot, be sure to get at least 600 calories in. I look forward to exercising but I can barely get 400 calories in so fast so I'm going to wait.

Wish I had been able to have surgery 4 months ago. I'm heading off on a trade show trip. I'm probably the same size as I was last year (I had gained after the summer). So even though I've lost 30lbs I will look no different to anyone. Blah. I'm excited next year I have a big possibility of being very small. But this year still sucks. Oh well.

I expect to do more pictures tomorrow. My weight is right at 240 and I'm trying to remember to take pics every 10lbs. 10 more photo sessions and I'll be at goal!

Up in 4 hours to catch a flight. Should be interesting doing restaurants! Oh boy

Lylabelle I know how you feel! I work for a company in hospitality that focuses on entertaining clients and I, too, have some travel coming up that will require some creativity in the eating department. I am just glad that my first trip isn't til August - so I will have two months under my belt before I have to figure it out!

@@hrhlaurie I joke with my husband about that too but I figure I'm still better off being able to run! I'm intrigued by what that will be like.

I'm having trouble with the timing of my meals/shakes and my days are very front loaded. Gotta set more timers.

I hit 9700 steps yesterday so close to goal of 10k. But today I'm sore and trying to remember to cut myself a little slack.

I'm at 233 today and I'm feeling good about progress but I have a little concern about how slowly the weight is coming off. this was supposed to be the time where weight comes off quickly, but I'm not zipping along. My surgery was 3 weeks ago yesterday and I'm down 17 pounds since surgery date. I told myself that I would stay health focused and not weight focused but....

On the positive side, it probably isn't too early for us to all start sharing some NSVs. I'm now officially out of size 20 so I can shop in the XL range of clothes. I even bought a size 14 bathing suit and I may be straining the lycra panels slightly but I swam in it yesterday and felt great. I have confidence that I'll be in 'onederland' by my vacation in late August.

17 pounds in 3 weeks is fast. If you are really active it might be slower. And I think people that were on liquids diets lost more at the beginning. Plus if you are already out of 20s you don't have as much to lose as someone 300+ pounds. Lots of factors go into it. But if you hit 20 this month and 15 next month you are likely right on track!

M The

I'm enjoying food again! After 20 days of liquids I've enjoyed some baked potato, sweet potato and chili. I was a mad woman cleaning house yesterday, got a good sweat but not too much. I'm down to 238 today. That's 30lbs since my preop started a month ago. I hope it keeps moving. I'm 50 lbs from my first goal, hope to reach that by labor day! :-)

I emailed my NUT yesterday and she says it sounds all good - what I am doing and where I am. She's going to log into my myfitnesspal and make sure I am eating right. It's nice to have someone like that as a resource!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
