Super stalls around 7th month post op?

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve done in November and have lost 75 pounds since. Unfortunately, I seem to have hit a big stall the past month, weight stuck at 247. I'm 6'1 and am trying to get down to 190. Anyone else hit a huge stall around month 6 or 7? I bought a stationary bike to exercise more, but the scale hasn't gone down. I have been bad at snacking while at work, usually crackers or nuts, and have stayed away from bread, Pasta, carbonated drinks, anything sweet. Lost lots of hair despite taking the Biotin. I haven't gained any weight back but can't seem to drop below 247 and it's been over a month. I eat as much Protein as my body will tolerate, so I'm trying to see why the stall is persisting. Just checking to see how others in month 7 are doing.

Amen, my brother.

I am 7 months out tomorrow and I've slowed way down...1 pounds lost in the past month. **sigh**

I've been working out, getting my Protein in and drinking Water. One thing I realized at my 6 month appointment, I was snacking quite a bit. I've stopped that in the few weeks since then, but it hasn't made the scale move. **double sigh**

I'm trying to keep my chin up and keep on keepin' on - some days are easier than others.

Will be interested to hear from others with the same issue...

Hello. I am almost at 8 mos. and I have been stuck at 226 lbs for a while. My loss is VERY slow lately. ( I have only dropped about 9 bs in the past month and a half) I too have been snacking too much and I have also ate a few too many "sliders". Not going to blame anyone but myself. I am trying a different approach. It is only the second day, so I will see how it goes. I am trying to get back on track with diet and get moving more. Not giving up, but it is a bit frustrating. The "honeymoon" is over by the looks of it. Now time to really dig deep and work it out!

My surgeon had told me at the very beginning to stay on my program as strictly as I could for the first six months because after that it often slows down. That proved true for me. I had lost just about all I was going to lose (105) pounds by 10 months out. (My start weight was 252). Of course all this depends on so many things, but it is a good rule of thumb to follow. Those first six months are the time when you want to be vigilent with getting the most weight off that you can.

Keep up your good work! Sometimes hard, but always worth it!

8 months out and I'm too stuck. Once 7 months hit..bam. stall. Its a head trip too. Just trying to stay the course and keep following the rules.

Eventually things will resume when my body is ready. I see things shifting around tho..similarly to the very beginning of the post op phase. So if this is round 2 but the pokey version..I'll take it.

I too have been struggling. I'm at 9 months tomorrow and have been stuck for 10 weeks. It has been total hell, and like Gomekast says, an absolute mind game. Ritz crackers and my favorite Chex Mix just seemed to jump into my shopping cart week after week. So, I met with my surgeon this week and she really nailed me on everything - it was harsh, painful, and really embarrassing. Once I got over how horrible she made me feel, I realized I needed to take back control of this journey. So I'm on track- at least for the last few days - and have even managed to lose a couple of pounds. Plan your work, and work your plan, friends! :) We can do this!

I am six months out tomorrow and in the same place. I'm 87 lbs down and seem to have stopped here for the last month or so. My appetite has also increased. It is a struggle now to stay around 800 calories a day. I've been examining my diet and fine tuning some things, I quit drinking crystal light because it has corn Syrup solids in it and I wonder if it stimulates my appetite. I'm exercising 4 hours a week - can't do much more on that front. Yesterday I took a zumba class followed by a strength class. I'm just trying to be vigilant about what I eat on the carb front and that is getting more difficult! I also found out I have gall stones but have had no symptoms. I want to hit my 100 lbs lost before I schedule surgery.

Yup! Six months here. Stalled for four weeks and just starting to creep down again. I run about 10 miles a week, do yoga 3 times a week, spin 2-3x a week and swim one day (training for a triathalon). My calories have gone up a bit from an average of 650 to an average of 850. Some more carbs from berries and watermelon and hummus than I had before, but not a lot of empty carbs. Still get in all my Water and Protein in. Tried adding calories in case my body was doing the whole "starvation mode" thing. Nada.

I have still lost sizes while stalled though! So I am just keeping on! Strange though!

Thst must be frustrating. I never had a stall of any length. I worked out religiously, logged every single calorie and drank tons on Water.

I hope your stall breaks soon. Stop the snacking!

I'm 8 months out..and I do 3 food meals a day with 2 Snacks as Protein powder. Breakfast is almost always a Quest Protein Bar, lunch varies..but it's usually a veggie with something entree like. Each day it's different, so can't give types but the total amount never usually goes beyond a cup of food between the veggie and entree. dinner really varies too. Generally speaking, I don't go beyond 1 cup of food per meal. Regardless of what it is. Most of the time I only eat about 3/4 of a cup or less, because I pick the dense Protein first, healthy fat next and then veggie.

It's vague yes but we are all different and a few days out of the month I could eat way more than that if I wanted.

I had a month-long stall at 8 months. I bounced back and forth between 154-155 forever it seemed. It was very frustrating. Just this morning I was super excited to have a 2 pound loss so I'm hoping that after a month at the same weight things are moving again.

A stall was mentioned at our support group meeting last night and one guy said he went back and did the liquid diet first week program and the leader confirmed that this is a good choice...its called a restart. You push the restart button and the guy lost 6 lbs. Just make sure you get in your Protein.< /p>

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
