Five months????? Ouch, that hurts. I'm on two weeks and on day 4 and struggling. Eating string Beans raw, carrots, spinach that I juice, and drinking lower sodium fat free chicken broth by the large cans. Protein drinks and plenty of coffee.

I, like you might be stronger than we think.

Great Snacks ha, 2 sugar free popsicles a day.

I feel for you and hope to read the others people's comments and suggestions.

I chose to do it 5 months (1200 cal/ low carb) then my pre op diet was a two week liquid. So thankful I did it for 5 months, in those 5 months I lost 55 lbs and I believe it made the transition to my post op easier! You can do it! It's all in your head!

Lol lol I had those days, and I have them now being a few months post op. Just different frustration now! Now I'm frustrated because my pouch likes something one day but doesn't the next. Eating has just become a pain in the ass, if I didn't have to do it anymore, I wouldn't. (Never thought I'd say that). You can do it, I believe in you and it will all be worth it. Keep your eye on the prize (you).

Did they tell you to focus on Protein? Not just shakes but real Protein food. It's much more filling and helps stave off hunger longer. Carbs will pass through faster and spike insulin making you feel hungry faster.

Try some of the Protein Bars (Quest are really good)... eat MEAT!!! :) Steak, shrimp, fish, tuna... go for bulky, heavy, gotta chew things and try to cut down a lot on the carbs. It's how your diet will look after surgery anyway. Also start that habit of not drinking with meals. It fills the stomach with liquid instead of the bulky food and will make you feel hungrier faster.

Best wishes!

I'm on day 12 and have lost 15 pounds so far. It's been surprisingly easier than I expected. I'm eating 6 times per day and hitting 1500-1800 calories, which is definitely more than you. My "mini" meals consist of Greek yogurt + Protein, string cheese + fruit, boiled eggs, raw veggies, roasted chicken, beef Jerky, raw almonds. Mostly protein. I'm also making every meal/snack last 20-30 min and I'm SICK of eating. Never thought I'd say that. :)

See you can have fruit and nuts,I can not.it is difficult to eat six times a day when I'm at work.I work at family dollar. I need some Snacks that are approved for this diet.I'm feeling flustered

The first three weeks, the hunger pains woke me at night! It was brutal. At week four, I actually realized that I couldn't even a half-sandwich, my body was revolting the excess! It really begins to happen, but with extreme hunger at first. I'm on week five and looking forward to surgery next week.

You're right - fruit and nuts definitely make it easier. Do you like dairy or Protein Shakes? I like Premier Protein shakes and bars - they're handy to have with you. Kind of pricey, but I found them at costco for less.

My nut progressed me to a diet similar to the liver shrinking diet. She started by telling me to eat within one hour of waking, to eat 5 fruits/vegetables per day. I started doing shakes with fruit (1.5 servings) for Breakfast. then she switched my lunch to a Meal Replacement shake. then when i was used to that she switched my dinner from whatever my husband cooked (we both had been working to get him to make healthier meals prior to this, and he does sometimes) to a prepackaged healthy choice type meal under 300 calories, with added vegetables. the best part is she considered potatoes a vegetable. This progression helped me make adjustments, and to be ready for the liver shrinking diet.

I have to say though... i had trouble sticking to this plan with every meal. I think I got lunch out every other Saturday or so. but i was more mindful when I ate out... watches my portions, tried to stick with something healthier, and tried to stick within my daily calorie goal.

Talk to your nut. They can't honestly expect you to follow the liver shrinking diet right out of the chute. If you could do that... you probably wouldn't need the wls.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
