Will my life change forever? scared to death...

Recommended Posts

Your life will change but it is a great change. You will start looking at food differently. Once you start losing the weight you will want to continue to keep going. You will start enjoy clothes shopping and start doing things you would never done before. For me I never thought I would run a 5K and I ran my first one in April. Your surroundings will change you will find out who is with you and who is against you. This will be a good change for you!

This is so true... You find out right away who your true friends are. I had people in my life that I considered best friends who no longer are close with me anymore. I also have people in my life that have supported and encouraged me this whole journey. Its sad but it really made me wonder.

It will change for the better - best...Then Magnify 100 times...and it just keeps getting better....

Words alone cannot do it justice....like you're "Born Again"

Sorry. I'm not a Sleever, but I'm with the Band.....and between you and me, I do ANYTHING I want....(but i had to learn my lessons first) And only the long term veterans, whats left of them, knows what I mean....

Thank you ! My date is approaching and no one knows yet outside of my wife. I wake up every day at 4am. Cant explain why- I am not afraid of the procedure itself, juat anxious. I will go shopping today for some Protein Drinks just to taste what I like and what's not before the surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
