Recommended Posts

Hi Goddardgo, I'm am in Green Valley, AZ and my surgery date is July 8th. You will be amazed how fast the next few weeks will go. I'm an old lady of 58 and would be happy to be your sleeve buddy. We are in the process of moving. We just sold our house and will be living in a rental house while they build our new house until this fall. Then we are moving to Las Vegas.

@@deline23 we have the same day! Technically, I start my preop diet on the 8th, but I'm actually starting a week early to get in the swing of things. I may still have solids for dinner this week...haven't decided yet. If you haven't been added yet, you can PM me your name and I'll find you on FB so I can friend you and add you to the group. It's a secret group, so you can't search for it.

Looking for other July Sleevers! Let's help each other through this journey. I see my surgeon July 1st and if everything goes well my nurse said surgery date of July 14th. I am self pay. I checked into having the sleeve done in Mexico but decided to have it done here in Montana. I have checked into a couple of other places but really love the facility that I will be having it done at. It's been quite an adventure to say the least. I would love to share this time with fellow sleevers.

Was approved over the phone in one day and will have surgery on July 18th. I'm excited and trying to keep my anxiety down. I've had three c sections and an open repair surgery, so I'm hoping I'll handle this well. Received my Protein Shakes yesterday. Will try one tomorrow. Maybe it's my imagination, but I feel like my desire to eat is already decreasing. Anyone experienced this?

My date is July 22nd with Dr. Quinones in Tijuana, MX. I'm back and forth between nervous energy and excitement. I start partial liquids tomorrow for 7 days then full liquids for two weeks. Nerves are kicking in.

I had never heard of plication before. My surgeon won't do it. It seems like a scary way to do it but to each their own. I just don't see the benefit of that vs sleeve.

Plication has been around for about 10 years. The research I have studied has been very positive. It is not practiced in the states but as I understand it is getting ready to be approved and will then be practiced here in the states. I chose the Plication because it is less invasive and safer than having part of your stomach removed. It's proven to be just as effective on weight loss with less complications than the sleeve and lap band. With 50 lbs to lose and keep off the Plication was the best recommended procedure for me by my surgeon Dr Ariel Ortiz and he is one of the best in gastric surgery, therefore, I feel perfectly as ease with my decision.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
