Anyone had a Panni 1st then Tummy Tuck later!?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I'm about 25# from my goal weight and have a large pannis, I've had it all along but as you know with weight loss it's become increasingly droopy and floppy! I am now running and it's painful, I have to buy smaller bottoms so they hold it in place(which is also not that comfy) I keep it clean but have had yeast growth which I also treat and manage well! I saw my surgeon yesterday for my 6 month appt and he was so pleased with my progress, I asked him about the possibility of removing this prior to the end of my journey bc it's making life increasingly painful and also my PT thinks it hanging down has restricted the way my hips move both seated(they rotate out instead of neutral) and also obviously exercising...anywho my question is to see if anyone has undergone a Panni initially with the intentions to have a full tummy tuck(amongst more plastics) later down the road? I should add that the TT and plastics are a few years down the road for me bc we'd like to hAve one more child!

I know insurance usually requires you wait a year (if it covers it at all). Since you only have 60lbs more to go, maybe you should just suffer a few more months and see what you can lose. I would wait. Get a good garment (spanx or something like it) and see if that helps. Maybe they even make something for ladies in transition. I have a large pannis too so, I feel your pain....

I'm not terribly worried about insurance I paid for my surgery to begin with, I was just looking to see if others did the same! I only have 20lbs left to my surgeons goal and 30 to mine but he thinks I have at least 10# of skin...so technically I'm 10lbs from his goal for me! I've lost 63lbs and am 5' tall, so I've lost over 60% of my excess weight. He is ecstatic! I am very physically active so this would be a Godsend to have it done as a first step as I would be suffering a while bc we intend on having a baby next year so my big plastics will have to wait a few years! He is also thinks it would be beneficial bc I'll be having a third csection to get the pannis out of the way! I say good riddance!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
