Hungry 5 days PostOp Surgery

Recommended Posts

I was hungry for the first few days, but once I was more diligent in following doctors order and getting my liquids in more frequently (1 ounce every 15 minutes), I began to feel better. A lot of the hunger is head-hunger and not actually physical hunger. It will get better, I promise. Hang in there :)

I am also 5 days out. It is not all head hunger, my body is hungry. I have no problems with liquids in fact without thinking I chugged a ½ glass of Water yesterday. No problems. I have moved on to creamed Soups which are wonderful. However, I have yet to discover when my sleeve is full. I think because all of what I eat is liquid. Jello and pudding kind of slow me down, but I am still very aware of not crossing the over full boundary. How do other deal with bowel movements. This has been my difficulty. I went to bed yesterday and while asleep I emptied my bowels, no warning nothing. Luckily, I did wake up fast enough to make sure nothing leaked into the mattress. Make me a bit paranoid of sleeping. In all my 54 years I have never had something like this happen to me.

I am 5 days post op as well. Moved on to full liquid stage. I feel Hungary as well. I woke up this morning and my stomach was grumbling. I just had about 5 spoonfuls of cream broc Soup. I feel like I could eat more but my stomach is grumbling again so I am thinking it is full. Liquids has been my hard part. I am lucky of I drank 8oz of Water today. It is so hard to sip! I feel like my mouth is so dry! I as well have yet to have a bowel movement either.

I guess cause I'm so hungry is because my doctor still has me on clear liquids! I have no problem drinking at all. He told me he would change my diet to purée till my PostOp visit, and that's not till the 9th. It's going to be a long week for me.

Oh and I still haven't had a bowel movement! The discharge instructions the doctor gave me said I can have milk of magnesium. I'll be trying that tonight.

5 days post op for me today! I have been having serious withdrawals from drinking liquids like I used to... I still have the burps that won't budge! I have also been back to the hospital twice now for fluids. Anyone else have any advice for me?

Oh I am so glad I am not the only one. I want some real food but I am on liquids for two weeks. But I feel hungry!

Everything I see my kids or family eating I want. I know I won't eat that but it's so hard not to want it when I'm so hungry. I thought I wouldn't go through this because I've read that most people don't get hungry that they eat cause they have to. I sure hope this gets better.

I was hungry about 6 - 7 days post op and I felt guilty b/c all I read is about hunger disappearing. I got over that nonsense. We are all different.

I was allowed soft foods/puree pretty early and that helped. It was interesting. I only get hungry at work. I think that was my snacking zone. So I plan my lunches very well b/c there's nothing I can do about the hunger if I don't have my foods. My stomach isn't having that regular stuff!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
