Hello all. I am new to this forum. I was sleeved on Feb 10th and have lost 86 pounds including the 15 pre-op. I am fine with everything and happy about the weight loss. There is one thing that is really bothering me. It is an annoying gurgling sound and feeling in my stomach that moves up through my esophagus. It does not feel like acid reflux but like gas bubbles.

I follow all the rules about eating. I eat slowly, chew well, don't overeat, don't drink 30 minutes before or after i eat, etc...i tried going back to the liquid diet as suggested by nutritionist but nothing has helped. It has stayed the same. It happens all the time. When i eat or don't eat, it has even kept me up at night.

I am including a link below to where i uploaded a sample of the stomach noises i've recorded using my phone.

I have my follow up appointment on June 10th. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this and what happened? Has it been resolved.

Some WLS patients have this, especially soon after surgery. I definitely experienced the (sometimes embarrassing) gurgling for probably close to a year post-op. It has calmed down a lot, but even at three years post-op now, it does still happen occasionally. (No esophagus sensation, just stomach gurgling.) If it is just stomach gurgling, I would not be concerned that anything is wrong, but I don't have any medical knowledge to help you understand WHY this happens.

Since you talk of a sensation in your esophagus though, that sounds more like you could be having some acid reflux going on. I would definitely mention it in our F/U appt if I was in your position.

Glad you're doing well otherwise, and hope this annoyance clears itself up soon. . .

Hey there my sleeve sings too. I have embraced it sometimes I will sit in my car and she sings. To me it's absolutely hysterical I have named my sleeve the baroness.

Are you passing enough gas? I have found ways to evacuate the premises so I can relieve myself of the gas. It helps dramatically. If I hold it in I getting serious bubbles and am really uncomfortable.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
