Been There Done That

Yes, that's exactly what his concern was back then because of my family history, but had nothing to do with reduction, it had everything to do with bypass and the fact the stomach is completely removed. The band and the sleeve is just a reduction, not removing the stomach

The stomach is NOT removed for the bypass.

I have read and was told that the lower part of the stomach is removed and in some cases 80% is removed

I apologize because I did say completely removed and that is not the case. ...my words and mind are going 100 miles an hour and I am trying not to stress about it. I will find out more on Wednesday, I have a lot of questions for my Dr

Don't be stressed just want to clarify factual statements. I am not a bypass expert but they staple off part of the stomach and change the intestines. It is reversible because that stomach is still there. The sleeve is completely permanent because they remove about 80 to 85 percent of the stomache.

That is a scary thought but I finally realized mine was defective and too big and now it feels normal...

My Dr visit today went well, I had an upper GI done and blood work done. My Dr is going on vacation so my physiological and nutrition appointments are scheduled for June 16, stress test is scheduled for July 1, EGD is scheduled for July 10 and hopefully per my Dr an August surgery date. My deductible is met,so all costs will be 20% out of pocket which should be okay since I do not have to do a sleep study nor a supervised diet. If my EGD goes well with out any signs of stomach lining separating I will be a sleeved woman....praying for a successful surgery and recovery in Jesus Name

what exactly is stomach lining seperating?

I have had gastritis which is a number of things that can occur in the stomach, but for me it was very bad acid reflux after I eat, or at night it would wake me up out of my sleep and in the morning my stomach and throat felt like it was on fire. It was the reason I got the band back in 2005. When had my first EGD my Dr showed me the pics and looked like a line was drawn in my stomach, but that was in 2005, I had another EGE in 2011 and my stomach looks much better. Hope this helps.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
