Low fat savory types of snacks(chips, crackers)that will not make oily stools

Recommended Posts

I'm craving crackers and such as a savory type of snack, but I'm having trouble with undigested fats(ugh!). Can I get some suggestions from the group about whats working for them. My only shopping outlets near me are Wal-mart and the local rinky-dink grocery store. Can I get suggestions for the right type of low fat crackers and Snacks I should buy?

BTW- I had the sleeve/DS

I really enjoy Wheat Thins Fiber Selects crackers. Garden vegetable is the only flavor I've seen. I have five of them in the evening, for 40 calories, and I usually have a light laughing cow or a little red pepper hummus with them. I also really love the Parmesan garlic triscuit thin crisis, but find them slightly less filling due to lower fiber content. Hope you enjoy!

I've been eating "chip ins" on occasion. They are kind of like tortilla chips but also popcorn-ish...hard to describe. They are salty and crunchy. You get 20 for 120 calories. I eat 10. Perfect little snack to curb my chip and cracker cravings. I had the sleeve, so no malabsorbtion, so I can't attest to the undigested fats problem you are having with the duodenal switch.

Pepperidge Farm cracker chips. They come in a few different flavors (bbq, chilli lime, three cheese, sour cream and cheese). They are baked and an ounce (which is quite a lot because they're light) is 130 calories and only 4g of fat.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
