having pain need advice

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Here's the problem... I have been supper restricted for the past 2 1/2 weeks. So much so that I have lost 10 lbs!

I know that part is good but I am very scared and it is starting to wear on my nerves. I have been going through a home addition and initially got ripped off by a contractor and now I am on my second contractor. The stress has caused my restriction. In the past 3 weeks I remember having 3 meals without PB ing or pain.

Last night for instance I could not lie down. Because the acid in my stomach would shoot up to my throat and nostrils and I ended up throwing up on my pillow (which was not nice). So I spent the night in sitting position.

My family is encouraging me to get an un-fill. I currently have 2.5 cc. Any advice?

Has anyone gone through this? How did you deal with it?

Mary:(

Hi Mary -

Stress is indeed a huge culprit in the matter of tightening restriction. If you cannot manage your restriction by relaxation techniques (i.e. stress management) and/or warm liquids, then it is indeed time to get an unfill until your stress is over and you can maintain a more acceptable level of restriction.

As you know, reflux is nothing to mess around with, and needs to be addressed immediately!

Good luck -

It's not supposed to be this painful, Bebbly. I definitely recommend calling your doctor for a slight adjustment. Better to have a slight unfill now than have major problems later!!!

I would recomend an unfill like Doanli said atleast until your stress is over. Or maybe you just need a little taken out..

.5cc's removed can make the biggest difference. You do not want to do damage to your band or esphogus (sp?)

Good Luck

I am feeling similar, having trouble with mush & liquids, every sip/mouthful hurts. I am heading in for an unfill in 2 days. This is not a fun way to live. Reflux is the pits. It's not meant to be like this. Ring for an appointment. I cannot wait to get in there. Best of luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
