I feel fortunate!

I had a hiatal hernia repair and vsg surgery on 03/26/14 and today I had lost 41 lbs since surgery and am down 3 pant sizes. It's tough and I'm hungry most of the time, and I always have that fear or failing but right now I'm happy and I'm working very hard. Maybe it was the cash out of my pocket that has me motivated not sure but I pray I have continued success. Good luck to everyone and best wishes.

Just a suggestion on the hunger...sometimes acid will cause a feeling that we can confuse with hunger. You can take an acid reducer or proton pump inhibitor and that may help that feeling.

You're doing great - congrats on your success!

I had a hiatal hernia repair and vsg on 3/6/14. I'm down 34 pounds since surgery. I too have been dealing with hunger. The day before yesterday I read that hunger pangs can be caused by excess acid in the stomach. Yesterday I started back on my Prilosec (Omeprazole) and it did seem to make a difference. I wasn't quite as hungry yesterday. Hope this helps.

Are there prescription meds or over the counter?

47lbs this morning. I'm almost afraid to mention it in fear of a stall. Lol. Good luck and best wishes.

That is great!! Congrats. I had my surgery on the 11th of March, down 49lbs. Been stalling a bit lately. Joined the gym and trying to fit in some upscaled workouts to prevent a stall. Still doing the shakes and 1/2 to 3/4 of food and two healthy Snacks. Good luck!!

That's awesome!! I got down 50 lbs and have been on a stall for two weeks!! Stalls suck but it helps to see others get through them!! ; ) I stopped taking the omeprezole and my doc will probably not be happy but every time I took it my stomach hurt! I am still taking everything else except the Calcium which I have a hard time swallowing. : ( I probably should get a pill cutter I guess!! So we are running about the same! : )

Great job! I am 7lbs shy of the 100 lb club I want to bust that number!! I also have the tummy ache and only take those pills when I need them not everyday. If I eat kinda blan on the plan I am good. If I venture out to much tummy ache.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
