I was set to get my sleeve this Tuesday, May 13th when my blood work on friday showed that my liver levels were up since the last blood work in Jan. The anesthesiologist wouldn't "OK" me for surgery and the surgeon wanted to go ahead. Long story short...I've been prepping for a month of my May 13th surgery only to be denied 4 days before. I am SO disappointed and want to give up completely. This has been such a long journey since Aug 2013.

This happen to anyone? Should I be concerned?

. This surgery is no joke so if there is any concern for your liver be glad they made you wait. You want everything to be in as good as shape as possible. Get a 2nd opinion on liver and keep your surgeon in the loop. It's possible you have something going on- or not. Better to be safe then sorry. I'm 4 weeks post op and every other day I feel something here or there and petrified it's my liver or my stomach or kidney. This surgery and the recovery can do a number on you/ u don't want liver issues on top of it. You will get the surgery when your body and everything else is meant to. Don't give up- so much you have done already.

Remember it's your liver that breaks down poisons and toxins in your blood stream, like anesthetic drugs!! Liver problems + anesthesia is no joke.

I agree it's no joke maybe it's a sign not to go forward. I hate to say that but go with you gut! Prayers to you

you need to find out why your enzymes are elevated. once you treat that, you can move forward with surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
