I'm 9 weeks out. I eat between 500 - 700 calories per day. (This includes one Premier Protein shake, a half of an Isopure Protein Drink, and 1 1/2 - 3 ounces of baked salmon almost every day.)

You're early in ur journey so calories shouldnt be an issue anyway. You should just be working toward your grams and Water daily. Just dont onpy us powder to get it. Need to integrate food and supliment ur intake with Protein shakes. Good luck

I am trying but it is hard. It feels like everything I eat goes down real rough. My Protein comes from shakes, but I did eat a nard boiled egg yesterday and did not have any problems. Im going to the store to get some salmon tomorrow.

Well just do what u can but the more food you csn integrate the better you will feel. Maybe if ur getting ur Protein from the powder try making actual Protein Shakes with a little skim milk and non fat greek yogurt and a little fruit and blend it. You will get more calories and more good Proteins. Greek yogurt has become my staple in my program and i never ate it before surgery. Good luck.

I average about 850-900 calories/day and I am 3 months out. Fortunately, my sleeve tolerates most things except pork-it really does not like pork. Other than that, I try and get 80+ grams of Protein daily and I shoot to keep the sugar content of my carbs below 50. I track my intake religiously on MFP and I have started tracking even non-calorie items and measuring everything (even my coffee creamer). I try and make adjustements to my calories about every 20 pounds because the lower your weight goes, your basal metabolic rate changes. Of course it changes with increased activity as well (depending on the calculations), but I keep an eye on it to make sure I am keeping my eye on the target, so to speak.

Interestingly, there are studies that show most people underestimate the number of calories they consume by as much as 50%, so I buckled down this week as an experiment-I have not plateaud since I began the weight loss, but there have been weeks it was less than 1 pound. Since I have been more accurate in my calorie calculations, the weight is really coming off and the clothes are loser.

If you are interested in calculating your basal metabolic rate, I suggest googling Mifflin - St Jeor equation, plugging your numbers in and see what it comes up with. A basic rule of thumb is to decrease that amount by at least 20%. For most of us on the higher weight end, the number may look outrageous at first, but it gives you a place to start. I think my last calculation showed if I consumed 1225 calories per day, my weight loss should be 2 pounds/week or more...I have yet to reach that number, but it gives me some idea on what to work with.

I'm having a heck of a time getting calories in. I ended up with a whey Protein issue three days before I moved to puréed food. I feel like I'm eating all the time but barely hitting 350 calories. I'm 3 weeks out on Monday.

What are you eating that youre only getting in 350 calories? Are you getting your 60+ grams of Protein and your Water?

Try this. I do amprotein shake when im not up to eating. Its about 45-50 grams. Its one scoop of Protein, 3-4oz of skim milk, at least a half cup of non fat plain greek yogurt, and 1/2 cup fruit. I use 3 strawberries and half a banana. I mix it in my bullet but a blender will work. Its about 330-400 calories depending on what u use. Its good for 2 meals. Another good idea is 100 cal greek yogurts. Just those 2 items get u your grams of protein and 450-500 calories. Then you have 1 more meal and enjoy what you want.

Whey Protein is what u want. You just need the isolate. GNC carries a good one. 24g per scoop. Canned chicken is good too, like tuna.< /p>

Im 5 months out and still use whey Protein Shakes about 3 days a week. Really important to get that 60g. It aids in healing and weight loss. I have never struggled with getting my Protein or Water in since day one. If i can help in amy way or give u suggestions i would be more than happy to help.

I like the Garden of a Life Raw Protein and Raw Fit lines of protein powders. Vegan, soy free, dairy free, gluten free. The protein comes from sprouted seeds, not whey, so they might work for you. I don't have an issue with whey, but these are a nice change from the artificial, sweet tastes of all the regular Protein Shakes. They come in original (kind of nutty/honey taste), chocolate, vanilla and vanilla chai. You may be able to find individual packets in a whole food or health food store to try out. Since they are a whole food product, not a processed isolate, they do not dissolve completely. I mix them with Water in my Blender Bottle so I can shake them up as I drink. I've also used the Raw Vanilla to make pancakes...very yummy!

I am so sry. I just now understood what your issue is. You cant have the whey Protein because your body had a problem with it! Sry but when i read your.post it just didnt click. I hope kindles post was helpful then. Also ask your doctor if there is somethimg else. Also like i mentioned greek plain nonfat yogurt is about 23g a cup. Add some puree fruit some flavor. That'll get you a couple hundred calories in a serving.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
