Hi everyone well I am 15 days post op on stage 3 diet pureed foods which my nut has me eating ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, chobani plain yogurt and isopure... I am down exactly 30 lbs today I started at 269 I'm at 239 today but I am really discouraged I miss eating dinners with my family and not feeling like I need to avoid things. I have absolutely no hunger at all but I'm pushing myself to get 70 Protein I'm lucky if I get 50 now. I'm 24 and I just want to cry because I knew this was hard but I never expected it to be this emotionally difficult. I feel like I spent my life eating when I wasn't hungry which is why I had to have this surgery but now I'm not hungry and don't want food and I have to push this food down. I never really ate dairy because it made me sick now everything is dairy and I'm struggling.

Please help I don't know what to do..

It's tough but you can do it! If you're on puréed foods then make some grilled chicken and baked potatoes for your family. Take your 2-3 oz portion of chicken and 1-2 oz of potato, toss it in your blender, purée it and sit down and eat dinner with family. You can get thru this stage!! Keep that weightloss as your motivation! When you said yes to this surgery you knew this was going to be a hard road- you gotta stay positive and motivated. Remember food is fuel for your body.

One thing I was not prepared for was the emotional part of this journey.

When I was 2 weeks post-op, I felt overwhelmed. Trying to get the Protein and liquids in is a full-time job - the logging/tracking gets to be a chore.

But, please believe me when I say - it will get better. I'm nearing the 6 month mark next week. Honestly, I really don't feel like a weight loss surgery patient any more. This is my new normal. I'm not saying I haven't been frustrated with slow loss, angry that I can't eat faster or something that I crave - that happens. But, I can say with all honesty, my life is so much better today than it was 6 months ago.

Hang in there, sweetie. You're doing great - get thru the new few weeks as best you can. Be kind to yourself. Make sure you follow your doctor's/NUT's orders.

You got this!

Today is my 3 week mark. So I'm just a few days ahead of you. I'm on soft foods so I can have tuna, talapia, things like that. I sit and eat with my husband and 3 kids. Sometimes I have food with them and other times I just have Water. Now instead of being down that I can't have some of the things they have I try to focus on talking to my family. I ask my oldest about her day and really listen to her stories. I talk to my twins and encourage them to eat (they are terrible eaters) it's just less about food now and more about the time I spend with them at the table. This may or may not help you but it has helped me. I steam a bag of edamame and eat a few here and there. It will get better for us and we will get to the point where we can eat the same foods as our family, just in smaller portions. I'm already starting to transition my husband and kids towards the way we ALL should be eating.

I'm with Cassie. If milk products are not agreeing, your NUT should be able to suggest alternatives. I like the edimome idea. Find a food that will help you through this period. It will get better.

Erin hang in there, I think you are doing awesome! Puree foods are so much more than what you are eating. My nut recommended a book Chef Dave recipes for Weightloss Surgery success and let me tell you after reading his recipes I can't wait to get to pureed foods. Check it out it was less than 10.00 on Amazon, I downloaded on my kindle. You can do this! It will get better!

I've felt the same way this week! It is hard. Today while my family had burritos I had refried bean with some plain Greek yogurt on top. The kids finished their plates in no time and I had only eaten 4 bites! It's definitely going to take some getting used to. You are not alone here. We all feel your pain! Glad to hear it gets less overwhelming.

Erin

You have done exellent with your weight loss of 30lbs in 3 weeks Wow!! Congrats on your success.

Now as far as the dairy, I know it sucks but keep in mind its just for a few weeks. Eventually you will have more variety on your menu. How about having Jello or sugar free pudding, hummus, unsweetened applesauce. Ask your Nut about these foods. Im allowed to have them so I dont see why your Nut would have a problem with them.

Good Luck on your journey and remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
