So when exercising and trying to stay hydrated how much Water can your stomach hold? When I exercising I need to drink a lot of water after surgery would my stomach be able to handle it?

When I hit the gym, I can put away about 30 ounces of Protein drink in 60-90 minutes.

Of course everyone is different.... I have read here that a lot of people with sleeves can drink Water without restriction and I'm one of them. There is no problem downing a half liter within 5 minutes. If your not one of these people you will have to work at it harder when exercising, being sure to sip before, during and after. When it comes to food, my restriction is there.

Best of luck

I found that when I run and then I go to drink I take a good drink and then see how my tummy feels, if I feel Water logged, I go grab a popsicle (sugar free) then continue with trying to drink.

I have found with Water, I can steadily sip it and not feel too bad. I can't take huge gulps like I used to, but I can swallow a normal mouthful without too much difficulty even now (12 days out). Granted, I'm not allowed to do much heavy-duty exercise yet, but walking outside with a temperature near 80 and humidity near 90% means I drink a lot of Water when I walk. Approximately a 20-ounce bottle for a two-mile walk.

Taking little sips throughout eliminates most of the need to gulp. Most of. I still have the desire...I used to chug 32 oz of water with no thought pre-surgery because it felt so good on the hot days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
