So I was a huge beer and wine drinker before I was banded. I actually can say I don't miss the drinking. Well last night we had an awards dinner to honor our fire department in town. My husband won 2 awards so I decided to have a celebratory glass of wine with the crew. Well I was going to go for a second glass and my stomach started burning. So I stuck with Water. I took some tums before bed and woke up feeling the same burning. I took more tums and my Prevacid but the burning won't give up. I tried eating some cheese in hopes it would coat my stomach but again, nothing. I have had a couple glasses of wine since I've been banded but my stomach has never reacted like this before. Any advice on what to do? Or had anyone had this problem before?

Booze affects me much more now than before. I get nauseated and high much quicker than before. If the pain is still there on Monday call your doc.

Thanks for your response. It seems a little better today but I haven't tried to eat yet. I def think it's irritated cause I woke up a couple times choking last night from the acid :(

I'd get right into the doctor. If you are on Prevacid already you must have some issue already and maybe you just need a medication or dietary change. Some people benefit from blocks of wood (inch or two) to raise head of bed. Did this for my husband -- we don't even notice the angle but I guess the esophagus does. For my mother we got a special angled wedge pillow that she loves. After so many difficulties with acid, various meds, endoscopes, esophageal stretches, etc., it turned out my husband is allergic to wheat. Has had no difficulties since going gluten-free but if he has a stray crumb from a counter or something, oh boy. Three days of intestinal distress. Good luck diagnosing this -- don't let it go and injure your vocal chords or endanger your band, etc.! Best wishes!

I just ate and feel so much better. I think the wine night have just irritated my stomach. It might have been a little swollen. No acid or burning now so hopefully that's what it was. The only time I had bad acid was when I was too tight. It's hard because I've had acid reflux my whole life. I have a hernia but they didn't fix it when I had my band put in so I think sometimes I aggrivated it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
