Cant believe i just did this

Recommended Posts

I have been married for 5 years. When I got married I was somewhere around 245. At my highest before the sleeve I was 283. I am 2.5 months out and have lost 51 pounds. Today I decided to try my wedding dress on! It was actually a little bit loose! Kind of a fun non-scale victory!

Too cool!!! Biggest difference I see is in your face. Obviously smaller today and I think you look younger too. Few more months and it will fall off of you...

I've thought about doing the same thing - but I've got a long ways to go. I was married 33 years ago and the dress has been "hermetically sealed" since then. What do you want to bet it is yellow? Neither of my daughters wanted to wear it. It would be great if I could ever fit into it again.

By the way - you look great!

The fun is just beginning. I can't believe how I've shrunk. I dreamed of getting to a size 10 and was so thrilled to shop at banana Republic and Loft. The the clothes I got started getting too big. Now I'm a size 6 and I never ever dreamed I would be so slim. I know my wedding dress (from 1996) is too large. I haven't tried it on. All of my other old clothes were donated in the fall and winter to Colorado Flood victims. Enjoy your journey!

Thank you for telling me that! My goal is a 14... Never wanted to shoot too small... Started in a 24. But now in an 18 less than three months out and I keep wanting to hope for a 10 but am almost scared to let myself! One goal I have is to put my wedding dress on and it fall to the ground. That would be so cool. I love hearing your inspiration words! It makes me hopeful and I can't wait to see what the future holds! Thank you

You'll be surprised how small you can get. I started in size 22. Most of my clothes are size 4. I tried on size 2 yesterday at The Loft and it fit !! I still bought the 4 though, in case I gain a few pounds

Wow so happy for you guys! I'm dreaming to reach a size 12/14..I at times believe I will be the unlucky one that surgery will not work for. Going on 3wks post op, only down 8lbs :-(...day of surgery 242lbs. .which I could fast forward time to see if this surgery will work for me..just a little frustrated.

Don't worry! It will work. I lost at first then stalled for 2 full weeks! I panicked thinking I had failed and it wouldn't work. Just focus on your Protein and liquids... And I actually did better once I ate more. I was eating like 500-600 calories and stalling. When I got to 800+ most days (mind you I know this seems so hard some days so I would eat 1000 one day and less other) I actually lost most weight. I made sure the calories I had were helpful ones like protein. Now I'm not much further out than you but it gets better then a new struggle will come up! Lol but I just know any hard time is better than struggling to find clothes to fit or just hating my size.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
