I am so excited. I had to share this with somebody. I am officially half way. I have lost exactly 1/2 of the weight that I plan to lose. Of course I am doing the happy dance right now. :clap2::whoo:

Danbo you have done great. I am so jealous of everyone losing. I don't weigh myself. I wait until I go to exercise nutrition class. I went yesterday and I gained a pound. I almost wanted to leave and cry. I know I haven't been exercising alot lately from foot pain. It now hurts from my foot to my shoulder. Spoke to the cardiologist that stops by during exercise class and he told me to talk to him next time I am there if I still have pain. He said shoulder pain can mean something else is going on. Nothing else hurts other than a pain that runs from my foot to my shoulder. I wanted to share something that I learned in nutrition class too. I don't know if you have tried yet. It is Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal. It is really good. It has alot of Protein and Fiber in it. I usually eat it out of the box for a snack. Some people says it gives them gas from too much of the fiber. I haven't had that problem yet.

Rhonda, you haven't had gas from Fiber foods until you've had the Fiber One cereal! hahaha! Wowza!

Thanks for the Kashi tip! I'll give it a try! Sounds like it would be a great snack!

Thats amazing Ashley!! Congrats! I can't wait until I get there! (of course my halfway point is like 111 pounds or something! Yikes!)

Have you seen, I think it's a national commercial, for the lapband, with the woman and the tiger (of an appetite) that changes to a kitty when she gets the lapband? She says, "I tried every diet and EXERCISE PLAN and then I got the lap band."

I'm not trying to undo the HUGE success of so many of you, but a lot of my friends (read: YOU) out there are DIETING and EXERCISING to a large degree. I didn't pay big money to do that. It hasn't worked for me in the long run in the past. Please don't misunderstand: I didn't think this would be a magic solution, but I DID think the band would:

1. Decrease my appetite

2. Help me to eat smaller portions

That hasn't happened on my "journey" yet. All I do is slime and PB on lots and lots of foods I can't tolerate. I'm very frustrated, and a bit depressed over the whole thing.

Yes, I do have a doctor appointment. Yes, he is going to read me the riot act for only exercising once/week for three miles. Yes, I'll probably get a third, albeit small, fill.

But come on.....honestly, I didn't sign on to do more activity (and I'm not exactly a sloth, either!) I don't have the attitude (sadly) and mindset of an exerciser.

Sorry for the poor, poor, pitiful me ramble! :phanvan

<sigh> Anyone else?

~Toni

Yes toni, there are more of us like you. I feel a lot like you.

I read of all these people who are exercising thousands of minutes a month and eating 600 to 1000 calories a day, and it makes me kind of frustrated. A person could lose the weight without the band if they did all that. If I was good at doing that kind of stuff, I wouldn't have needed the band.

I have been exercising more, but even with that, things are going so slow. I am lucky to lose 5 lbs. a month.

I sure hope as I get more fills things will get better. I still can't get over how different this works on different people. Some can lose like crazy without even a fill.

I will join you at your pity party.

I TOTALLY understand you Toni!!!

WhenI got the Band I was like AMEN! I figured it'd help me so I could just eat less and loose weight...

But then I decided that I wasn't loosing FAST enough. That is just ME. Technically, I'm loosing just fine... But I've been fat for so long and have SOOOOO far to go that I decided to nudge it up a bit. I choose to go to the gym to give my metabolism a boost and speed up my loss.

As for calories... I don't count them. I did just order a Body Bugg, so I will start to monitor calories, but so far I haven't, except for 2 or 3 days when I could barely eat anything. Mostly, I get more than 1000 calories though... like tonight I sit here eating ICE CREAM... I don't even care about the calories! I just wanted some friggin ICE CREAM!!!

I've given up so much for this Lap Band. I gave up bread, I gave up burgers and french fries and lettuce (NO MORE SALADS! It makes me PB) I have given up soda... and BEER. All this makes me sad... but its making me healthier too.

Long story even longer (Lol!) I think calorie counting and exercise are only choices that some bandsters make in order to boost their weightloss. There is nothing wrong with choosing to not do these things... you'll loose weight anyway cause you cannot physically eat like you used to be able to.

Joey, Missy, Suzzzie....thanks for the support, Girlies. I was hoping *someone* ---- just ONE person would understand or offer a hug. It means so much!!!!! I just can't stand the disappointment in myself and how I feel I must be to my husband. Uggggggh! Maybe some more patience will do the trick....

Love,

Toni

capt dan I am so happy for you!! You are the BIGGEST LOSER!!! I need to be on a boat...take us all with you!! :whoo: I agree about the support here, it is fantastic. I am glad you can eat more, because I felt as a guy, 1/2 c -1c was to little. You will look hot on your bike!!

missy You tooo. 80lbs!! :clap2:great celebrations, with Ashley half way!! welcome to the half way club!!!

rhonda don't let the gain get you down, it could be anything. I look at the time of the day I go to the doctor and then go from there. Just keep with the plan!! it will bounce down next:)

toni I am soooooooo sorry you are feeling :(sad! You are such a positive voice here. I agree with some of what you are saying, that the band was to help you control your eating, but with any diet, or restriction you need to exercise, for more than losing weight. I am no perfect work out guru, beleive me, I have fallen off the gym wagon more than once. I know it is good for me and actually enjoy it once I am there, but stress and exhaustion from work gets in my way! Even if you just walk, it would be good for you. You don't need to go and pump Iron, or run 30-60 min on a treadmill. walking 15-30 min a day is a start!

I agree with what suzzzie said about all we gave up, bread, soda, beer, salad (for some of us), but it is all good. when I read it I just recalled how I did not have bread, a sandwhich for 5 months! I can't beleive it. I don't miss it either. I do miss a few beers, but I drink wine instead:)! I don't count my calories or write down a log. I should write a log for that is helpful when I put stupid things in my mouth. But I think if you stick to the portions and the right foods, you don't need to do all that work.

toni, I am saying all this because I don't want you to put so much pressure on yourself and make you feel bad about what you did or didn't do or with the band. it is a process! you are great!! You are here with us. just hang in there!! I missed you... as well as others did...

well, hope I did not go on and on, but Toni, we all have visited the depressing moments of this journey... but we are on our way to better days...

Well I went to my Doc today to get my 3rd fill and found out something. I AM 3 LBS PAST MY GOAL!!!! I still feel like I am eating to much (no less than 2 cups per meal) but the doc really did not want to do another fill in fear of me losing to much weight. He says because of how active I am eating more than 2 cups is ok he even said if I could try to eat alittle more to try to get my weight to level out. Anyway today was a good day and I thought you guys would like to hear.

stella: how did you visit go? Did your sis get a unfill or no. I have to go back on oct 20th for them to take some pics for the new web site I think they plan to post a pic of me on the site. I think that would be pretty cool. Anyhow it was good to see you guys hope all goes well.

Hey Dan! Our appointment went good. I got a small fill and my sister got a little bit removed. As soon as Dr. K found out she was getting sick everyday, he insisted on taking some out.

Hey, taking pictures for the web site! That is so cool. You deserve it. You looked great before and after the band. Let me know when they post your picture and let me know the web site.

Our next appt is 13 Nov. When is yours? It was nice seeing you again! Take care!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
