the first few days are the worst...I think about day 3 is when I tapered off and was okay... your body is going thru a detox... drink something hot, that helps a bit... you'll get thru it!

Good luck and congrats!

I am drinking 5 carnations (no sugar) w 5 grams of Protein added to it (injury) w 2% milk a day. It's very satisfying to real hunger! The head hunger ( what I think is just used to filling my mouth when ever I want! Takes a lot of Will power! I just sip Water. Get all the tempting food out of your house! Box it up. U can do it. May 1st is my VS day!

I'm on day one of 2 weeks. I think I missed my coffee the most. I'm just really emotional now that this is actually happening. I also have PMS so that isn't helping matters. I'm trying to get creative with my shakes. I'm sure I'll be tired of looking at them soon enough. I just have to keep my eye on the prize and muscle through it. Hang in there and know you are not alone!

I am on day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet. My surgeon is only having us do liquids for 48 hours though.

It's getting a little better as night falls snacking tonight will be hard not to do since I don't go to bed until late. Day one is about complete. I also read a website how to change shake flavors and such by adding sf ff pudding mix about a table spoon per scoop of Protein. The choc. W choc. Pudding mix is great you can also add the dehydrated PB2 Peanut Butter not sure about before surgery though. And lastly I made a strawberry shake w sf ff cheesecake pudding mix it was great. We're all in this together.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
