Calcium Citrate: What do you use?

Recommended Posts

Need to be mindful of all chews as they contain calories and carbs, my nut told me to steer clear of the delicious ones as we have to take so much a day!

I've actually decided to switch back to Wellesse liquid Calcium. I was really struggling swallowing even the Citracal Petites. I researched what would be the best chewable or liquid for me to take, looking at prices on Amazon since that's where I would buy from. Based on my research, here's what you would have to spend in terms of calories, carbs, and money to get 1000 mg/day for 30 days:

(and keep in mind that most post-wls patients are advised to get 1500 mg/day). Also my pricing was based on the fact that I have Amazon Prime, so shipping might be more for you if you don't have that or don't buy from Amazon at all.

Solaray sugar free Orange: 30 calories, 7 carbs, $26

Bariatric Advantage Calcium Chewy Bites: 80 calories, 20 carbs, $30

Bariatric Advantage 500 Calcium Chewy Bites: 30 calories, 8 carbs, $25

Celebrate Calcium Chews: 15 calories, 3 carbs, $17

vitacost sugar free Calcium Chews: 25 calories, 2 carbs, $17

Rainbow Light Chewable Calcium: 60 calories, 15 carbs, $24

Wellesse Liquid Calcium: 15 calories, 2 carbs, $12

I was totally hesitant to try the Wellesse but it's really good and no metallic taste. I have Amazon prime and I think I got 2 bottles for $23. I keep one at work and one at home so I don't forget. My NUT said 5ml 3 times a day instead of 7.5ml twice a day for better absorption. My labs were good at 1 month. They added extra D because I was at the low end of normal. Hoping my 3 month labs are good so I don't have to go to pills. I just can't tolerate that horrible metallic taste.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
