Any May 20th surgeries out there?

  • Popular Post

Hi everyone,

I have been on this forum a few months, but haven't really spoken up. I have just been like a sponge soaking up everyone's knowledge and experiences. I am so happy to say that I have been approved by BCBS for my sleeve surgery, and it will be on May 20th, which also happens to be my 8 year wedding anniversary! Anyway, I couldn't contain my excitement to start this new chapter in my life:-)

May 27th

Praise God! Just got call from nurse and insurance has been approved. Have to do one week liquid diet starting May 12th. SURGERY date is 19th of May. So excited, this is the best graduation present ever! I graduate May 16th, I could have scheduled surgery on 13th but I did not want it to interfere with me walking across the platform receiving my Degree. GOD IS SOOOO GOOD!!!

Congrats! You' ll get those papers and tests done:-). I'm in the same boat...grad school last 2 classes .

God is Good ALL THE TIME :-). Congrats on graduating! Now onto the next journey...sleeve here you come!

I'm pretty much a jumble of all sorts of emotions. I am scared because my life as I know it will be over, but so excited for the same reason. I have had several food funerals, I imagine that will continue another week. What will we all do once food is no longer there for us as it once was?! My doctor does not require this liquid pre-op diet everyone seems to be doing.. He wants me to continue to lose weight, but I only do liquids for 1day prior. So strange how different all the surgeons are. Anyway, super excited, and so happy I found this forum, and all of us going in May dde0a

Congrats!!!!! I was sleeved on 4/30/14. I know all about the food funerals. You will do great!!!!!

May 20th as well. Second day of two week preop liquid diet. Struggling with hunger and crabbiness, but i made it through. :) Good luck May sleevers!!!

May 19th. I'm 3 days into pre op diet. I have to say my emotions change daily! One day excited, the next I'm second guessing the whole thing. But what I do know is that I can't keep living life carrying around an extra 150 pounds! Is trepedatious a word? I think that's how I feel. I'm gonna go look that up now. :)

I'm also a May 20th sleever! This is my third day on the pre-op diet and I'm also a roller coaster of emotions-struggling with hunger and crabbiness. Just got it keep moving forward and counting down the days! Best of luck to all of you on your upcoming surgeries! Can't wait to hear your success stories!

Went and bought my Protein shakes for pre-op diet that starts on Saturday. 5-6 shakes a day and then sugar free drinks, popsicles, Jello. I have to say that I'm feeling anxious. I think it's finally sinking in....Saturday is the day that my "New Normal" really begins. I realize that I really cannot know what to expect, how it will go, emotions and feelings until I'm there and present in those moments. The only thing I really know NOW is that I have made this comittment to change. That will need to be enough for now along with knowing that I can rely on the peace that surpasses all understanding, and the knowledge that I CAN do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me!

Ready....set.....go! Almost to the Land of Oz!!

This thread is growing. We are getting closer. Let's keep each other posted. I'm doing the pre- op diet. Whose with me? I get one meal this week then just liquid

Me and my husband and daughter are all going to Mexico May 31 for surgery. We choose Dr. Kelly from all the good reviews. So May 31 is D-day for all 3 of us.

Luckily my pre-op diet isn't that strict. I get a protein shake for breakfast/lunch either a protein bar/greek yogurt/cottage cheese for snack in between. For dinner I'm allowed 6oz lean protein, 1/2 cup starch, 1/2 cup cooked veggies or 1cup raw and 1tsp of fat, then another shake for 'dessert' lol. It's getting easier as the days go on, but I think I need to switch up shakes bc I'm kinda getting sick of it already. Just keep up the good work-it'll all be worth it!
