What does restriction feel like?

Recommended Posts

I just started full liquids and was given the okay for cream of wheat. I took 2 oz of that and added 1 oz of milk ( made w 1% milk too). I was almost done and got a squeezing in my belly right under my boobs. Is that my new sleeve telling me to stop?

I get the same thing.. I get the hiccups and my chest gets real tight as if I ate something super dry and need to drink to push it down.. Keeping track of what you eat, taking your time will really help with that. I had the hardest time with it when coming home and forcing Protein Shakes down and when starting to real food.. Good luck!

No hiccups or burping yet, but I get what feels like a cramp in my chest and then stop. I ate my hot Cereal super slow on a baby spoon so I would know when I'm done. I'm so glad to feel that restriction!

The other signs are still to come. You're being careful right now..........Just wait till later when you're in a hurry or forget to eat slow, (eating fast is a hard habit to break) and you fork it down too quick........then you will know "too full". Not much you can do then but just be uncomfortable till it passes.

I measure all my food to be sure of portion size, but if I eat too fast, it still gets me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
