Anyone seen Dr. Almanza at the new HMN Hospital?

Recommended Posts

I'm seeing dr Almanza at his new hospital in Tijuana, the HMN hospital. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been?

I have I had my sleeve done on April 8th it was a lapband to sleeve revision plus a hiatal hernia repair I woke with an NG tube it was awful but you won't have that. The hospital is nice very clean not as high tech as American hospitals I felt save and can tell you he does a lot of surgeries about 12 a day. It's goes pretty fast and before you know it, it's over and your new life begins. Just make sure you follow the preop diet or you'll be sick

The hotel is very nice and clean, most people speak English. The nurses are nice and responsive. You'll room with another sleeve patient unless you travel with someone. I'm an ICU nurse here in the states it was a different experience I had my lapband in France so my experience in France was better but Dr Almanza know what he is doing I felt comfortable. Like I said before you know it surgery is done and your new life begins. I'm doing good I'm back to work. My stomach is very sensitive I'm still on full liquids and will start trying puréed foods ie baby food in a day or two. I did try chicken nuggets bad idea I got sick and was sorry I did that

I have no appetite it's one of the plus's of having a sleeve procedure. I'm down about 12-14 pounds in two weeks. My wounds itch like crazy

Good to know. I'm nervous about the whole thing but hoping I'll lose my appetite and it will make it easier. I am looking forward to it despite the nervousness :)

The band was placed 12years ago the surgeon who designed the band placed it. At the time I had it done the bands in the United States were having issues the it was a new concept and I didn't want an inexperienced surgeon operating on me. I had the band placed and had good results the picture on my profile. I looked good. Bands don't last forever, the band was tightening itself absorbing Fluid from my body it had to come out. Dr Almanza is experienced in revisions and I had a good outcome and so will you

My experience was amazing. I felt comfortable at all times and staff was very knowledgable. It helps having a group of people to go through the process with. I was really glad I had a companion with me though...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
