Hey All!

First let me say that I know EVERYONE is different, but I do have this question. I am three weeks out and while I feel pretty good most of the time, I still have a bit of soreness in my abdominal area (I had two incisions in my waistband area) and every now and then a twinge of pain. I just need to know if that is normal. I had a hernia repaired as well. I almost want to call the doctor not because the pain is so severe, just because I am in the wonderful land of paranoia and don't want to do ANYTHING to mess up my new body!

Please advise! Thanks!

My largest incision hurt occasionally for about six weeks and then backed off.

I had a band to sleeve revision and the incision where he took out the band was really sore for a couple of weeks. If you're concerned, call your doc. Trust me, there's no question he/she hasn't heard. They are there to not only do surgery, but also to support you in your journey. No question is "silly". It's your body and you have the right to ask questions. :)

By the way, CONGRATULATIONS!

I had a bit of twinging soreness in my my larger incision for up to about 5-6 weeks. There was one point at about 4-5 weeks where for some reason it started hurting more, but then the pain diminished until right around 6 weeks and after I no longer felt anymore pain at all. I also felt like I ripped one of the internal stitches at one point which freaked me out, but I read that it was normal. I'm not about 7.5 months out and I am completely back to normal feeling- I just don't eat or drink as much as I used to and the scars have almost entirely faded.

I did call and they told me almost exactly what you all have said. She was like, you did just have MAJOR surgery with a lot of things shifted around. LOL, she said I know your incisions are small, but the surgery was large! I have calmed down, and I appreciate all your input.

Thanks fam! Keep going!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
