Hello, I'm new to this site. I am excited to have some online support. I'm 7 weeks out. About how many calories should I be eating daily?

What did your NUT tell you? Mine did not give a caloric intake, just that:

1. I should eat no more that a salad plate of food for a meal.

2. It should be 70% Protein, 20% vegie, 10% starch

3. I should eat the Protein first

4. No more than 2 Snacks a day

5. 60 - 65 g of protein a day

I was told to focus on my Protein and not my calorie intake...and to get 60-80 grams of protein a day. Im only 2 weeks out and I am really trying to focus on fluids 640z a day. I keep a log on my fitness pal and I don't eat over 500 cal a day since I am trying to focus on 640z of fluids...I would call the dr or nut and see what they tell you.

My program refuses to give us calorie totals to aim for. They follow the hunger trust model. Eat til your satisfied..no more.

Within that are a few rules..

No more than 1 cup of food total per meal

Hit Protein goal daily

Protein first always

Hit Fluid goals daily.

Thats the guidance my program gives us.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
